I was only half a car length behind (took it up to about 60-70) a stock rx8 (stick) with my ls. Neither of us seemed to be that great at shifting at the time. But it was cool to be right next to a rx8 gettin on it, for half the money. hahahahah

It's the SS/SC wing. I'm pretty sure it's the opposite of stickers. You lose 10HP with it on.

The RX-8s are over priced, over hyped and under powered.

Believe it or not, I would honestly take your car over a RX-8 anyday. I can not stand those over rated junk. Now in its day the RX-7 was a nice car, but the new RX-8s pure and simple junk.

Full tank of gas, heavy rims, and a passenger would make a bigger differance then you think. Every 100 pounds is a tenth of a second. So lets assume your passenger was about 160 pounds (normal person's weight) and a full tank of gas effects my 1/4th times by a tenth or two at times. Reason why? Its weight in the back which gives you a slower launch. Heavy rims is even worse the dead weight because the engine has to turn those heavier wheels. Lets assume your new wheels are about 5 pounds heavier, thats another 20 pounds heavier not to mention more turning mass.

With all of those things in place I would say if you would run a 15 flat with a low tank of gas, stock wheels, and no passenger.

With a full tank of gas, a passenger and the heavy rims you may only run a 15.4 or less. That is almost a half second and nearly 2 car lengths. Less then the 15 flat.

They are slow stock, yes. But really have alot of potential. So says the Best Motoring American Touge 2 race car drivers. That and parts are abundant. We have to look under every rock and log in the woods to find parts, and have like 1/4 the options they have! I want to see that change, i want to see people realize the potential the cobalts got!

Think of having that cobalt time trial car.
To bad i dont have millions to invest in research and dev, and lotus at my disposal for any of my suspension tweaking needs.

The rx8 is not a drag car. It is a sports car. It is not junk either. I don't like them but on a road course it runs right with the boxter, 350z, and S2000. That is what it was built to do. I don't like the rotary or anything but the looks of the rx8 but to call it a piece of junk is a lil over the top esp. driving a economy car like a balt non ss/sc.

Never said they were junk. And I do understand that they are good handling vehicles. Was just putting out my opinion that they were over priced, over hyped, and under powered. I'm running practically stock, and my friends RX-8 is hard pressed to keep up with me, either straight run, or cornering run.

Damn, I can't find the pic, but there was a real nice pic of the '05 Toyo Time Attack of a SS/SC leading an RX-8 through a corner.

AGREED 2X..... I auto-X and there is an RX-8 that runs in the top 10 times consistently. It freakin corners like its on rails.

R&C Rallyss hit the nail on the head.
Your big fancy custom 18' rims are slowing your ass down, as well as a full tank, and an extra 150lbs body in there.
I can pretty much guarantee that his LS was about 300+ lbs lighter than you. Clean your car out, take out the spare tire, plastic engine covering, floor mats, fabric cover in the trunk, jack, (get creative), it won't be as close next time.

i wouldn't say that... the interior is nice, the exterior may appeal to some (not me personally), it's kinda nice that it has 4-doors on such a small vehicle, it can run mid 14's with someone that knows what they are doing, and is one of the best handling cars if not the best handling car in that price bracket. The new rotary in that thing is junk though, there i will agree. Stock it makes somewhat decent power, but they dont respond to bolt ons worth a damn and aren't strong enough to handle any forced induction easily.

Good grief, your cars aren't that old It's not like a car comes out and there's instant aftermarket support. Give it time. The GTP's didn't have much support for awhile, now look, you can replace literally any part of the engine with a better part.

So you think that the cobalt community is big enough for company's to start making parts for them? Cause there are only odds and ends parts out now. I wonder if the big company's are in R&D, that would be comforting to know.

I was thinking...has ne one taken a look at edelbrock? They offer turbo kits and other stuff for hondas. You would think, being an American company all about "Made in the USA", would offer parts for american sport compacts! Im sure they wil soon.

I want a new intake manifold, a non plastic/nylon one...
