Congrats!

Look like you beat him without much trouble

I raced a 20.5 HPT one about a month ago from a roll (i am the camera car...)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSdLs3i9c4o

i have a trifecta 22 psi tune, had to run from 3rd gear, had no traction in 2nd gear that night with a colder weather (you can hear on the first run... )

if all he has is a tune then your tune and other mods are what won the race. more psi doesnt always mean more power.

dont forget driver plays a huge roll as well.. the first posts were digs so i assume driver mod, a roll would be more helpful in showing which car is faster,

Your catless dp +20psi is actually more "boost" than his stock dp and 22psi if that makes sense...

When you say "boost" do you mean air volume?

Boost is a measure of intake air restriction. His turbo was able to spool more efficiently because of the catless dp and pull in more volume because of the K&N. The added efficiency allows more power to be transfered to the ground. Also as you start to run a turbo out of its sweet spot you reach a point of diminishing returns. The turbo creates more heat and pressure in the exhaust, which takes power away also. If you keep a turbo in the peak of efficiency it works a ton better... case in point, the diesel in my sig. stock only runs 8-12 psi MAX! it just runs out up top.

Basically less restriction the turbo has the better it flows which equals more power
Common sense for those that don't get it yet

lol it was late and was on my way home, the other guy was always trying to start in 2nd gear, or too high in 2nd gear/too low in 3rd... i tried to tell him to go from a slightly faster roll so we could go from 50-55mph in 3rd but he was always staying behind like that. i had no traction in 2nd gear... He asked me to race to see what trifecta 22 psi was vs his tune so i accepted but didnt wanted to wait for him everytime to line up properly, it was late and was a bit short on time.

Its not like we were going to cross a line anyway, we floored it about in same time everytime, on the first run im in 2nd gear and he got may be half a car because of the wheelspin i had, you can hear the engine rev near redline, then i hit 3rd and hes behind.

Ill try to make a better one next time

I agree.... digs are not the way to go to show CAR abilities. Driver plays a huge role. The mods are not identical and if you ask me I didn't think the difference in those dig races was all that huge.

If everything was about car ablilities I would drive a lexus, or rather ride in one, that can park and drive itself. If you want to race you have to take the chance of looking like a idiot for not being able to launch. Its one of the reasons to learn how to launch well. If you want to show car abilities do some dyno runs, that would probably be the best way since you don't have to worry about variables, cops, or wrapping your call around a phone pole.

so what would you say are the "tips" for knowing how to launch well. I do okay... but I just always think I should be taking off faster than I am.

I took others advice and launch at 2,000 rpm and kinda roll into the throttle, but quickly. Seems to work pretty well.

I'm the one that did the tuning on the HPT one. Stock DAL's, no additional timing, just hand smoothed. .87-.86 lambda throughout and all the right things in all the right places. Also he's at about 19 pounds. Car's got alot more in it.

Related sidenote, the OP can't drive for ****. ^_^ SORRY JARRED BUDDY =D

yeah trifecta is overated when you have a catless dp and a drop in filter and all the other guy has is a tune not to mention it was from a dig next time let the kappa forums know your mods before you open your mouth

In your opinion, no. In mine, yes. I'll throw a competently hpt tuned lnf against a trifecta tune any day of the week. Key word, competently. The amount of toolsheds running around with HPT nowadays is astounding.

1) Learn to quote.
2) My HPT solstice can beat up your Trifecta solstice.
3) I don't own a Cobalt.

Your dp won you the race for sure. Dp's open up a lot of restriction and a lot of power
