Hung with a "jackass" in a 2010 camaro
whats knowing how to drive have to do with anything. if you run your car and lose its a loss. not ohhh my cars faster if i knew how to drive better.
Tofu beat a 2010 Camaro SS with the manual in it the other day. I'll have to ask him again how much he beat him by.
What makes it double impressive is that he did it with a car that's half the price tag of the Camaro, with nothing but a K&N and tune.
What's that come to in mods?... like... $150? ($50 for filter and $100 for HPT credits?)

At the end of the day dump the same amount of money into each = camaro wins you can't compare the two because you always get one jackass that says well if I had the extra 7k in my cobalt blah blah blah....... then the other one I only have 2 liters......but that 28lbs of boost makes up for that doesn't it! Then you forget that the camaro also weighs 1000lbs more than our cars.
You own the dealership?
Tyler
I love the comparisons
"ZOMG my tuned SS/TC totaly walked a bone stock SS Camaro"
Good job...you beat a car that has no mods, crappy tires, and 1000 lbs weight penalty...
It's amazing really...you compare apples to oranges like their the same thing. The SS has been out for less than a year, the aftermarket is still growing, and yet a stock SS is a "dog" of a car because it doesn't go as fast as you think it does? Sorry fellas, it's probably not going as fast, because it's designed to go fast, you shouldn't feel like you're riding the razors edge when you go fast, it should be smooth and easy to control, not ragged and rough.
Like Cartercar said, you take a cobalt and a camaro, stick the same ammount of cash into them, and the camaro will beat the cobalt every time. It's physics guys, its frigging science. Larger displacement+RWD=win. Thats the long and short.
I bet in a year there won't be so many "beat a camaro" stories around once the owners start putting some cash into the cars. An intake, full exhaust, a cam and heads for probably around 4k and there will be a different story being sung.
Either way, nice job OP, a kill is a kill.

and cmiller does trap those speeds.. we race at the same track and have seen it with my own eyes. soo
and for those that say put the same amount into both and see whats happens. so my balt cost 21,000 new a new ss camaro cost say 34,000 so theres a 13,000$ difference. so theres 13000$ a cobalt owner can put into his car before a camaro owner can say ya but you have more $ in your car. either way both are nice cars

You just keep getting faster and faster, so now TC's trap 115 with a tune and a pair of bolt ons, wow!

The car slowed down with the slicks, there a little to tall, but hook better.

i stick by my previous statement. like i said u run ur car and lose its a loss.regardless of granny shifting, double clutchin, missed shift, babys mamma was callin me so i diddnt hear the 3 beeps whatever.
Sure it is a loss, but why go around bragging when you beat an incompetent (sp) driver? I wouldn't brag about beating a Z06... You just keep thinking everyone can drive the same because it is a roll race and there is no skill involved.

Awesome, so a TC with full bolt ons is going to trap what 125 this winter? Seems to be where the pattern is heading...

How about for once you don't play the balt is this much cheaper part huh? Last I saw a Cobalt SS started at $23,525 as per chevy, the Camaro SS starts at $30,245. What does that come out to? Less then 7 grand... Not to mention you tap out the performance of your 4 cylinder just to walk a stock car when the LS3 only needs minimal mods to make beating you look easy. You do know that cam only they are putting down 500 at the wheels right? No 330 whp balt is going to touch that even on the jugs.
Tyler
you make valid points. and since im not in the mood to debate this with you i will leave it at that.
but for the record i dont think everyone is equal drivers, and that there is no skill in driving from a roll.

yawn. heard it with stangs vs camaros STis vs EVOs...enough with the dick measuring competition. lets wait till the camaro mods start popping up, then do battle, then post. im interested myself. personally i think the camaro is an ugly car but you cant deny its performance.
Here's some interesting info someone posted on a local fourm I visit. Talking about how some SS's are not puting down what they should be. Have not heard about the outcome or if it's true (slow fourm) but if the car is pulling timing due to a sensitive sensor may be why some see them as slow. If this is true and I had one I'd be pissed and want mine fixed.
I received this from a local customer of mine. FYI, I have not tuned his new Camaro yet, but plan on it eventually. He dynoed his car (stock) 3 times at a different dyno than mine (still a Dynojet), and it was only making approx. 315, 313, and 294 rwhp.
Then he told me about a friend of his with another Camaro, and the same thing happening, and that GM was actually sending a test car and two engineers down to do some independent testing on both cars at the same time:
Quote:
They arent looking at MY car but another L99 of a guy that I know. Were having the same issue. I am getting a consistant 6.1 second 0-60 and so is he. I know the heat and humidity can lose you some time but surely not 1.5 seconds. If GM determines that there is no problem and says the weather is the issue then I will be coming to have you fix it. They are testing it on Tuesday. Theyre bringing another car with them for comparison. We know there is a problem because weve been beat by bone stock Mustang GTs. NO WAY a stock GT should beat my car. The thing that got GMs attention was that the LT (V6) Camaro on the lot, beat the SS by a nose in an 1/8th mile race.
Last week, the GM engineers finally showed up, and this is what he told me:
Quote:
Actually, very interesting. Sorry for not getting back right away but I been waiting for the official update from GM.
They sent 2 engineers and a car (SS) down with them. The car they sent was running 4.8 0-60s up in Michigan the day before. It ran 5.4 0-60 down here in the humidity and heat. About a half second loss which I guess could be expected.
They had Scotts Camaro SS running at about 6 seconds. They admitted that there is a problem. When they left, Scotts car was running at 5.3 to 60.
Here is the explanation they gave. They said the car was retarding the timing spark to reduce engine knock as if there were low octane fuel running through it, and the computer was not adjusting the way it shoud or something like that. They are going to call Scott sometime this week to explain exactly what they found. So Im just kinda waiting for the word. Im still running at 6.1, 0-60 and its pretty damn consistant. AND irritating.

and i agree waste of time thats why im letting it be.
well just this 1 thing i have cmiller on video trapping 115mph so whoever said he doesnt the video will be posted in the next couple days.

OMG I got burned so bad, oh man....
Where is your time slip thc? Oh that's right, with your rebuilt motor you run what 13.2's at 109ish? Bolt on GTO's have run high 11's at 115, so should I be impressed?

and u make fun for running those times w rebuilt motor wow i have forged pistons now and a mild port thats not really much for power adder there guy.
wheres your slips at? what car do your drive that you come in here and try to put everyone elses car down mister high and mighty.
