ION redlines?????

are they slower than the SS of faster than the SS because i beat one with my SER SPECV and im only running like mid 14's all motor, and he could not keep up and i had to ask if it was a redline and he said yes i was very suprised because i honestly thought they were goin to be faster than they are....i saw the vid on here about the car running 14.70 in the 1/4 and thats respectful but then i saw that my car, numbers wise is faster at the track than a stock SS or ION but i cant wait to see what aftermarket has for the SS before i buy one........i will look at RKSPORTS right now

It would be hard to believe that a Redline would be faster than an SS so i highly doubt it

so the next question how many people think i should keep the SPECV or try to get an SS...my biggest problem is that i have alot of money in my car and if i get a turbo its game over for my boys EVO, and he knows it.......keep the spec, or try to get a SS?

Yah there is no way that a 175 hp SER SPEC V will beat an SS without mods...unless you race someone that misses 3rd gear...it all depends on preference...i bought an SS because i liked the way it looked and of course the supercharged engine and all the other goodies that came with it and no matter what anybody said it wasnt going to change my mind...its all up to you

yes it will, i will give you some # and you can crunch them youself......specV weights 2650 roughtly.....8psi will be running 289whp and 282lbtq.....evo is over 3000lb and has same hp but at the wheels its only like 230 or 240 and my boy knows it the STI is only 265whp.....so yes i will smoke them hell i smoke WRX's right now, from a dead stop too, its close but its all about the driver if he only gets a car on me from the line then he will be annialiated......think the # are fake go to www.fi-r.com and find the kit there! then also they are comming out with a supercharger for the SPECV and its going to be around 280whp too www.rippmods.com

But also evo's are 4wd, which means way more traction than you're going to get with the spec v. 280 hp to the front wheels will just spin your tires through the first two gears. An evo's 240 hp will be put through 4 wheels and will catch traction before you will. All the horsepower in the world doesn't mean **** unless you can get it to the ground. Now I have no doubt you're running mid 14's with the spec. I know guys running 13.9 n/a in the spec, but wrx's only run mid 14's too. So i believe that story. Have you looked into the powertech imports turbo kit for the spec. Better than fi-r. The fi-r kit equals kaboom, so don't buy that. Check out powertechimports.com and talk to jamie. He's got what you need.

Yeah your not thinking right.... If you put 300hp on a rollerskate it wont beat an evo, and if you get 280 going to that nissan you will spin the wheels foreverrrrrrrrr, my buddy did it with his SI, crazy HP but no way to get it at the ground. EVO and STI still beat you

If you dump enough money into anything you can make it fast.

The spec v is 2.5 litres correct? Well with a turbo and 25% more displacement I am sure that it could be a great car. I am not a huge nissan fan but they seem like nices cars whenever I rode in one.

I wouldn't expect a turbo 2.5 nissan to be to far off from a SRT-4 since they are the same displacement setup.

8psi will be running 289whp and 282lbtq
This I do *not* believe. You would have to be a serious engine builder and not 't have to abide by the EPA/CARB rules.

i don't understand whoever said the redline can't be faster than the SS. it's got the same exact engine. the only difference is that the overall car (the redline) weighs 200 pounds less. wouldn't that make it faster?

Adam (silver redline above) and I raced our cars (both stock) and they were dead even as far as performance is concerned.

It's a driver's race for sure. Both cars will scoot even more with a little motor work.

I love both the redline and the SS cobalt for different reasons.

Im just anxious to start building the motor ASAP. My best friend of 22 years' dad is one of the main engineers for GM performance division. He used to be the head of GM powertrain, then Fiat in italy before moving back to detroit to work. I know where to get the parts, but he will know which combination works best for he knows the motor forwards and backwards. I'll keep you all posted.

Then how about telling us what sort of GM performance parts we can expect for this beast
