LS VS Tiburon V6

Sitting at a red light today when a Tiburon v6 pulls up beside me, so i'm sitting waiting for the green, foot on the gas a little with other on the clutch, goes green and i gun it, i was pulling on the the v6 with him close beside me i mean his door was at my rear tire, close but i did take him. then he put on his signal looks at me and waives, i waive back and signal to him to pull over for a friendly chat. needless to say he likes the look of the cobalts, I told him they only come in 4 cyl. He looked supprised, Then told him until next time bud when there was less traffic, he said right on until then.
When i pulled up beside him I couldn't believe how small those cars were, My cobalt looks huge compared to his tiburon. what kind of power do they have, must not have much torque?

actually tibbys in v6 N/A mode are pretty damn slow. My 94 Z24 3.1 V6 auto can take one of those from a dig up to 80.. The 6 speeds arent much to fear. I assume a 2.2L 5 speed can easily take it.

If they can only cut a mid 7 second zero to sixty and a mid to high 15 then that's not very impressive for a 2.5L 6 speed. I think the gearing is what kills it the most.

2.2L inline 4 > v6 tibby 6 speed (going to about 100mph of course).

Drivers race if you ask me.

the tiburons are not fast at all....for the power of a V6...taken off a 06 they have 172horse and 181lbs of torque... with a six speed trans they only run high 15's....they should be quicker in my opinion(they weight around 3000lbs.) So I think its more of a drivers race...although the edge most likely to the tib......but they're are a couple of 2.2's running high 15's too

stock they arent fast at all but once the delta block (v6) becomes supercharged they gain enormous gains and the stock block holds lots of power, (granted if it stays in one piece like said from above) heck even with just cai alone i saw one tiburon gain like a 15 whp gain. They have very restricted intakes.

No it was a V6 blue 06 tiburon, cause when he pulled to the next lane to turn off and i saw the little v6 on the lower right of his trunk, I'm not scared to race i know it is bad and i don't do it unless there is room to move quick, I don't have any performance mods look at my pics pure cosmetics done. but i do know how to handle this car, you have to know what your limits are.
Unlike this other guy who owned the orange ss/sc up here in alberta. My friend works at a mechanics shop and he was over to my place one night and asked me "what did you do to your car are you ok?" I looked at him as though he had four heads, "WTF do you mean? am I ok?" he told me they had this orange SS come in today and it was rolled on it's roof. I begun to tell him i did not have an SS/SC and he said oh I see. so now there is a wrecked SS/SC up here with a good engine and i can't get it. just my .02 cents for the day.

Im not trying to say anything bad or trying to argue anything sometimes my words get taken in offense so ill just warn now.

The tiburon community does have a very a nice setup in their market. Both the i-4 and the v6 (especially the i-4) have a large community. There are about 2-3 companies that make blowers alone for the v-6, and 2 companies make fully built blocks that can be bought to be put in straight from the maker (acutally the only thing that needs to built up on those motors i think was the bottom end). THe i-4's have the korean community and massive amount of turbo kits, and maf burners. I haven frequent their forums lately (newtiburon.com) but they dont have ecu upgrades though. all ive seen have been piggybacks. The tibs have been out on the market longer than our cobalts, circa 2001, i think.

I will agree though that their build quality isnt all that great. but what do u expect for $15k?

Its funny....there wasnt anything offensive in that at all...lol....but thanks for the warning....yeah...I should have elaborated more on that....I knew that the korean community was big into it....I've seen some nasty tibs in asia.....myself and brother are part korean...he's more into the tib that I am....so he informs every once in awhile. I just meant that in the last two years the V6 model just started to get some decent stuff thats made around here...ripp supercharger for one....this is off topic...but whats with the alpine supercharger???? kinda makes me scratch my head??? maybe they should just stick to car audio...imo.....but I meant u couldnt go to your local speed shop or nopi online etc and find stuff like that for the V6...and true 15g's dont get u much...but a loaded 6 is almost 20grand...too much money imo for that car..thats all. I know a guy that works at hyundai...I havent talked him in awhile...but he said hyundai is aware of some of the problems the tib has...but hadnt done anything to improve it. But heard that the tib might be gone soon? is this true?

Well ill tell u this right now the alpine supercharger isnt made by alpine audio. Its actually i think a company that is or was out of South Africa that made it. Also the back bone to that community for the v6'ers was a guy they need to thank for making some stuff that he put his company on the line for as he made all these performance parts using his own tiburon as a guinea pig, is Nextgenmotorsports, with out him, they would still be strugglin for parts. As for the tib being axed i dunno i havent read up on the car in a couple years now.

i dont think the tibs are getting the axe, ive seen pix for an 08 tib called HCD-8. according to the site they are going to be adding a sc to a 2.7L v6.

here is the site http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame...hp&carnum=1866
