This is exactly where I am basing my information off of. I have raced a perfectly stock EVO as my buddy owned one awhile back. I had Stage 2, intake, and exhaust at the time and I walked him pretty hard from a roll considering I saw his tailights before I realized he wanted to race. He admitted it and walked away with his tail between his legs so to speak. I have also raced a few modded STI's as well at various points in modding. I have a buddy with a WRX that has progressed from being nearly stock to 306awhp, and I have been taggling along right with him the whole way as I progressed from stock to where I'm at now. I kept up with a freshly tuned 20G swapped EVO with my current mods as well. I know very well what the EVO and STI are capable of here, so my post is based off of first hand knowledge.

This is a MODIFIED 07 STi. We went from a Dig, Three Honks, took it from 0 to 145 mph.

STi had: Turbo-Back Exhaust, Front Mount, Tune @ 285awhp/315awtq

I had: Stage 2, 2.8" Pulley, GMPP Header, Catless Downpipe, GMPP Cat-Back, Traction Mods, and Drivers Mod version 2.856... dyno'd 263whp/238wtq on the Stg2 tune.

http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q...0070618017.flv

Now... when you watch the video... notice that the STi only pulls away in the first 330'. By the time I shift to third (1/8 mile), I'm already pulling him in hard. And by the end of the 1/4 we are even. STi's win races in the first 330' feet. Those first few gears RIP.

FYI... I DESTROYED him from a roll. With my HP gain and his HP gain in mind... I see that a decently driven SS would be perfectly capable of running pretty close with a Stock STi.

^^Wasn't that the STi that was only running mid 13's? I seem to remember that thread.

OMG. There is bullshit all over the walls in this room Cant tell truth from tale!! USMC has proof. That STI was built by a moron though IIRC from reading his posts on nasoc. None the less, he seems to be the only one that knows how to back his kill up.

I could back it up, but it's sort of hard to drive and video tape all at the same time! My regular camera man was actually driving the 20G EVO this past time. Also, that 20G probably could be pushed a little harder if desired, so I could see it pulling me easily with a few more pounds of boost added. Trust me if I got my ass whopped I will admit it right away. I have been spanked as well by many STI's and EVO's that are just straight nasty, so by no means am I stating that this would happen all the time.

True. He did a lot of dumb things with it.

The point of the video was just to show that the car rolled out HARD on me in the 330'. True that a lot of THAT cars problem was that he had too big of an intercooler and piping... and was getting bad lag at the beginning of each gear... but you can still see that the car moves out in the first 330'. Every 07 STi that I've raced (3 of them) would always rocket off in the beginning. Even from a 40 roll... they used to jump out about 1/4 to 1/2 a car... before I came back and made the pass.

ALTHOUGH... as much as I think it is possible for a Stock STi to lose to a stock SS/SC... I do also have my doubts. I honestly think that the driver wasn't a good STi driver. Either way... you beat one. And that's all that matters.

Driveline loss + 200 extra pounds than the SS S/C + roll race = ...meh, maybe a bad driver, but even considering all that, an even-steven roll race with an STi is something I'd expect out of a S2, not a stocker.

An exhaust can sound mean when the driver's flooring it, but what if he short-shifts? I do that to ricers all the time, make them think I'm going to wind it out and shift at 4k instead. OP, you really sure he wasn't screwing with you?

Fixed that for you Tim

Now you see what it's like from the other side HAHAHA People in here all over other GTOs, Evos, and STIs for being cars that "can't be beat" yet they all feel the need to explain every angle from which the "Balt" can beat any other car LOL

Somehow though it always comes down to a modified Cobalt beating a stock something else from a 40 roll to about 100 because that's the "sweet spot."

And now they can all post back at me because I obviously don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to any of the afore mentioned cars, right Tim???

Man Denny, your HTML is showing! And you're a programer tisk tisk. Everyone embelishes a little...nothing wrong with that, but some stuff is embelished to the point that you just cant believe it. Everyone that thinks that when they are infront of someone else, they were automatically racing, and they automatically won since they were in front. I mean - i freekin thrashed like 100 cars this morning on my way to work since i was infront of all of them. And we were all racing too

And you have absolutely no knowledge of any of the afformentioned cars...

There I fixed that for you too - feel better? LOL

Agreed 100% though - I beat at least that many on the way in today, but lost to that many as well since they were in front of me. So I guess that riced out Escort is faster than me

And that was my point . The STI is obviously a faster car if the person driving doesnt drive it like a puss .

^^The car is only as fast as the driver. Which is why STi's keep losing to cars they *should* beat. Good on these guys for out driving the retards in the STi's. Especially the dig races.

Yup, sounds about right for a STI, especially if it has a cobb turbo-back exhaust

True... They are loud ones. Just watch the video I posted. That bitch is loud. Drowns out the sound of my car.

-------------

And who gives a ****... lock the thread... no one is gonna win any of these pointless arguments. Besides, in one week... there will be a thread just like this one. And the same exact arguments will spawn.

Remember that 300ish bhp has to be transfered to 4 wheels instead of two, so what gets to the ground is not usually anywhere near the bhp rating. The SS has been proven to be underated from the factory and usually dyno the 205bhp or more. Then you take the STI's launch away from it and comparitively it is a 3395lb vs a car that is 2880lbs. Plus, take into consideration the STI's short gearing compared to our long gearing, and the STI is going to have to shift meanwhile we are still running out our long gears with less shifts to slow progress. But if you want to continue to think the STI let off, be my guest.

300bhp to one wheel or two wheels or four wheel is still 300bhp, period!!!!! Remember this fan boy
