Me vs. 08 STi
2. The new stock 08 STI dynos on average from 230awhp to 240awhp. See all popular aftermarket tuners for stock dyno numbers.
3. The stock Cobalt SS Supercharged dynos on average from 210-220whp. See all the dynos on here and elsewhere.
4. We'll aim high here and give both cars the benefit of the higher number in figuring out the power to weight ratios:
STI: 3395lbs / 240awhp = 14.15
SS Supercharged: 2880lbs / 220whp = 13.09
Looks like a better power to weight ratio, longer gearing, and taking away the STI's launch ability all support my argument. Not to mention real time experience with STI's and EVO's, but what the hell do I know "FAN BOI!"
1. Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components such as alternator, power steering, and AC compressor.

Here are 3 articles that say the 08 STI traps 100+ - and these are magazine numbers, real world numbers tend to be higher/quicker:

well considering the 04-05 sti's curb weights are over 100 lbs less than what you posted, and the curb weight of the ss/sc is usually said to be almost 100 lbs more than what you posted...i would be very comfortable calling you a fan boy. Let's also look at how quickly the sti makes torque and how much more it makes.
Let's use your weights just as a purposed though:
STI 3295 / 240 = 13.73
Cobalt SS Super. 2980 / 220 = 13.55
The SS still has a slighly better power to weight ratio and better gearing for this case. It's more of a drivers race than anything here. From a dig it's a different story, but from a roll the playing fields are altered in the SS's favor. If guys want to continue on arguing the STI is god's gift to all cars then fine, but in roll racing as the OP said he was doing a stock STI is not going to blow by a stock SS. It will be a close race, but the SS has a slighter advantage in this case IMO. Continue on calling me a Fan Boy if you want, but the facts are there and I have personally worked on and raced many AWD, FWD, and RWD platforms so I have a pretty damn good idea what they are all capable of.
Well considering that is exactly what my car weighed at Rockingham Dragway, NC on their scale that they measure all the race cars curb weights, I would say it it pretty accurate! As for the new STI it is a bit heavier than the 04-05 STI if you can use that great skill they gave you in school to read. All the tuner magazines, regular car magazines, and the highly noted car testers have the weight listed for the STI and have confirmed it is indeed a little heavier. Yes indeed the STI makes a bit more torque, but that torque is all down low, so once again you take away the STI's launch since this was a roll race and now it's the horsepower that keeps the car moving up top. Would you like more facts because I can continue to press on?

no the "facts" you just used should suffice. The sti doesn't just make torque down low, in fact it makes quite a bit more torque than the ss/sc up top...a lot more. You put 240 for the sti which is about average for a dynojet, maybe a bit low, and 220 for the ss/sc...which is a bit higher than average, i'd give it 210 maybe. you want a fact? the 08 sti's trap at 103-104+ while the ss/sc will have to be driven insanely well to trap 101. This is with another shift before the 1320 in the sti and way more traction. on top of that, if this kid could hear the sti BEHIND him, it means he had exhaust and an exhaust/tune sti is gonna make a stock ss/sc look absolutely silly if driven properly. tall gearing is not necessarily better for a roll race if the gearing is properly matched to the power band of the car and you know how to drive. like i have said before, stock for stock it's kind of a drivers race, but with a good driver an sti will pull away from an ss/sc, don't give anyone the false impression that the sti is not the faster roll car because it is. if you think i see an sti as gods own car like half the people on this site view the gto and the ss/sc you are sadly mistaken. I don't drive around in cars with huge wings on them, i leave that up to the people here, and i sure as hell am not an import lover. its not a bad car, but you are out of your mind if you think i am just a blind supporter of imports.

VIDEO PROOF!
I borrowed my Friends STOCK SS/SC and raced my other friends STOCK 07 STi.
We did a Dig, 20 Roll, and 40 roll... just to disprove all the naysayers.

I shoulda frickin seen the bold text... you sir are officially an ass
But the STi is rate at 305 BHP, not WHP. So subtract the 20% drive train loss and that gives you 244 whp (roughly). Now the 205 hp for the SS/SC is at the wheels so dyno charts have proven. And as 2K5SS/SC? below has stated, they are mainly fast from a dig due to the AWD. But from a roll they are not as fast. I am not ******* on them at all, but they mainly shine from a dig.
The EVO and STI are only really fast from a dig stock. When it comes to running out the power band though, stock STI's and EVO's really are not that fast. Basically you took the launch away from him and all you saw was the cars power to run out the revs. I've proven this several times myself that once you take away their launch, they just simply need a lot more power to keep up.
yes... that is why it's a low 13 second car. can you spin the tires at the bottom of second? cause i could stock. If my car STOCK had the traction an sti has and could cut the same kinda 60's, it would have been a mid 12 second car, but in reality in ran mid-low 13's. BONE STOCK sti's can cut 1.7 60's...most fwd cars with an average driver will cut a 2.1ish. That's 4 tenths made up in the first 60 feet alone, and with that kind of advantage that early, you will just keep pullin. If you made a bone stock sti rwd it would run mid 13's at best...fwd and it's a high 13 second car PERIOD. They take great to mods and can be monsters in any kind of race with the right mods, but stock, the first 100 feet is where they gain all their ground.
Exactly
