No, they do not push 25lbs, I doubt he was even really supercharged, the Monte SS's have a lot of vaccumm noise stock, they sound mildly blown. My GTP with the Gen 2 S/C will be less then a car behind from a 30 roll. And I think our blowers are like 6lbs.
L67 Monte Carlo has a Gen III M90 pushing out around 6-8lbs of boost. Anything over 18lbs will blow the heads off the engine with stock head bolts. With ARP studs you can push up to about 20lbs. With modifications to the blocks and heads 30lbs has been acheived but the guys that do that are still replacing head gaskets every so often and none of those are daily driven. The guy is right though, smaller pulley and he CAN be faster, but chances are he'll just put on the pulley, do no supporting mods, and blow his engine up. Happens all the time with new L67 Owners.
BTW, if your GTP is a 97-03 it's a Gen III M90...if it is 2004 or later it's a GenV. The Montes never got the Gen V to my knowledge.
I always wanted to race a GTP, one of the newer ones...GXP maybe? I can't remember, but they were supposed to be more badass than the older ones. This kid said that one would kill my old GSX when I was pushing 22psi (I had to laugh a little)
GXPs are the newer ones. They have the 5.3 V8, 303 HP, and run the quarter in around 13.7-13.9. Stock the 'balt SS/SC and Ion RLs will beat a GTP. We're about 200 hp to the wheels stock to your 205+ HP to the wheels stock (fricken GM under-rated engines). However, we get a bit better launch than you guys can when modified so depending on what the GTP has done to it anything can happen. Not biased, just sayin'. My roommate is on here and has an 04 RL and I respect the cars greatly. Almost bought one as a second car to my GTP.
