My Bone Stock Ss/tc Vs My Old Worked Sti!!!!!

OK, so i have an 09 balt ss/tc sedan, black and bone stock, lsd, (1700 miles, amsoil oil). in march 09, due to financial situation i traded in my 06 black sti (24,500 miles) with stage 2 custom tune, 305 awhp and 365 awtq (done on dyno dynamics dyno), hardened motor and tranny mounts, turbo back, yada, yada, yada.

anyhow i was able to track down the guy that brought my sti from the chevy dealer that took it as a trade in for the balt. i gave the dealership my email address for him to contact me. we talked for weeks and since he lived next to where my folks are from, i decided while visiting my family for easter i would meet with him at a diner to talk about our cars and maybe do a little 'running'.

it was great to see my former ride, she looked great and he seemed to be taking care of her. he was impressed with my ss/tc and actually thought is was supercharged, told him bout the switch to turbos with new ones. we talked at diner and then he let me drive my old sti which i was thrilled to, the sensation of 365 awtq never gets old. i then took him and his girlfriend out in my ride. got up to 75mph, he was shocked at how drama free the acceleration was. i then offered him a few pulls against one another, it was on....

we did 5 or 6 pulls against each other. first was a roll on at 25 mph up to 80 mph. went on 3 beeps, he shot out immediately in front but i caught up a little and we finished at 80 mph with him having a solid 6-7 car length lead. next run, at 30-80, again, got out ahead at first then i closed slightly, at 80 he was 6-7 lengths ahead, no less, no more. same thing for the next 2 pulls. same exact lead at the end. then came the dig run, forget it, he destroyed me, it was useless, (i guess i just can't launch the balt yet) then we did a 3rd gear start pull from 60, 6-7 lengths again for him up to 90mph.

i noticed he was shifting way more than me (thanx for those long gears chevy) people around us seemed a little mad, but what the heck. he had his girlfriend in car (3315lbs + 275 in passengers) me- (2997 + 175lbs) he was very surprised that he didn't end up with 10 + lengths on me, i thought he would too. he mentioned that i would def be able to hang with the m3 he himself pulled on 3 weeks prior. he also said he got up to 150 mph on the parkway in the rain pulling on a civic si and he said it had more left!! he may have plans for a bigger turbo and front mount, good day....

Maybe from a roll.....but still a loss! From a dig - destroyed. I have a 07 Stg 2 STI and it is like night and day from the Cobalt. I'm not knocking the Cobalt's though as I wish I still owned mine because I loved it. Just don't love it more than my STI.

X2.
I am not supprised he pulled that well on you it is 65whp and 110 wtrq more than you are now. Just get tuned and you will be a lot closer. You might even win.

I am not sure he really pulled 8 cars. We are talking 60-90 on one run. That is just a few second pull. A 450 whp car would be hard pressed to pull 8 cars on a 200 whp car in a race that short. Basically it would be like one car did not go at all.

I love how you consider a STI a "rice rocket". To bad that "rice rocket" still pulled away from your "American Rice Rocket"! You may want to look up the definition of "rice" before boldly making statements. And no i do not feel that STI's or Cobalts fall into the rice catagory. Both are remarkable machines in their own aspects.

LOL. I thought he ment a riced out Civic or something. I was not sure what he has talking about. I too do not consider Subarus a rice rocket. To me they fall into the ralley car for the street category.

Thank you! I've had guys in Mercedes, BMW's, and Cadilacs say how much the love my car and appreciate its ability on the road and on the track. I am a car lover and appreciate many makes and models. One day I will own either a Viper, Vette, AMG or something but I will never sell the Subi unless hell freezes over!!

Viper is overrated. My dad has a red SRT10 convertable. It is fast but it is geared so damn tall. If he is in the wrong gear I can take off on him for a little while. . 60 mph in 1st and 90 in 2nd. It always feels like you are in the wrong gear with that thing.

was it a 250?

I know my GSXR 750 went up against a pretty heavily modified corvette and we were dead even up until about 170. We both let off and called it a draw. This was on the way to a local car meet, me, him, and a group of other cars.
