my Cobalt SS/SC vs 2006 BMW 750iL **no vid**

Thats right... $80,000 family sedan.

"In testing, the 4.8litre showed that the new 750iL badge is more than a marketing ploy. Zero to 60 required just 5.4 seconds, a substantial improvement over the 745's already best-in-class 6.0-second mark, and the quarter-mile came and went in 13.9 seconds at 103 mph"

my buddy is rich and his dad drives it.

Here is a speedo shot from 0-155mph (taken last year... didnt have the camera for the race)

http://1997gtp.net/Videos/750li155mph.wmv

Its pretty quick...

Anyways.. he wants to go from a Dig... ****.. i dont practice that.

3 honks, i get jump and rev it up near 4k, (i hate dig races when im nervous, hard to feather the throttle)

Now i dont know if you guys know anything about the v8 bimmers, but they can launch HARD.... 1.9 60' is not a big deal to them...

I EDGED him a little bit on the launch... roaring up to 6500rpms, shifted into second, then it happend.... CLUTCH SLIP... ****.... i let off the gas completely.... then nail it again... CLUTCH SLIP... wtf??? bye this time it was time to shift into 3rd gear... CLUTCH SLIP... WTF? i let off again... then nail it.. CLUTCH SLIP

So basically the whole time it sounded like i was revving... letting off... revving..... that is what he said it sounded like.

Want to know the best part? I was at his rear bumper the WHOLE time. Oh man, if i didnt slip in 2nd and 3rd, i would have put easily 2+ cars on this high 13 second saloon.

I was so mad at first because of all the driving i do with the technique that is supposed to kill the glazing... But then i realized, it was because i got too nervous/anxious and accidently revved it to 4krpms and the clutch def. did not like that.

He promised a rematch again...

*i also raced him from a 50mph roll, and he was in sport mode (manual mode, kinda) and put 2-3 cars on him by 90mph.

A.K.A. roll racing... A.K.A. seeing which car is faster, not which has the better driver.

and you think roll racing is for ricers? go say that on SVTperformance.com and you will get your ass laughed off that board faster than you can say ricer.

we dont have mustangs, or camaros here... we cant really go from digs.. not sure why you guys are calling it rice.

our cars just are not good at digs. I have never seen a person get better than a 2.1 60' on street tires on this forum. These cars have too much torque for how light weight they are.

Not only that, the cobalt wasn't designed to be "launched." It's design was based on being an autocross car. So it's understandable that this car is hard to launch, probably harder than most FWD cars.

umm hell yea..

i had a 13 second Grand Prix GTP.. and that thing launched like a RWD car.

it was not uncommon to get 1.9 60's on stock tires.

(look a few threads down... we did a rematch with a video)
