Outcome? 09 SS Vs. EF Hatch

Alright, there's an EF Hatch around who claims to have only lost to a Cobalt SS T/C by 1 car. I don't know what's done to it but he said he raced until he topped out the car at 130 so I'm kinda hesitant to believe he raced a boosted Cobalt. I don't really know anything at all about civics but if anyone has some info what would he need to keep up with a stock Cobalt SS/TC?

I also told him I'd give him a run to see if he really ran a T/C and I'm waiting for him to pick a place and time.

k20 swap, b series swap, H series swap, turbo. any of those things. an EF weighs nothing and a mildly built K20 will put out over 200whp easily. you do the math.

the guy who built the motor in my civic many years ago has a built K series in a CRX and has run 10.95 in the 1/4 mile all motor. sure its a drag car, but thats whats they can do.

Weird thing is he wants to roll race me. That gives him less time to pull on me if his car is really that fast.

he will trap lower than 130 in the 1/4... u may want to back out. i know some NASTY coupes and hatches with half built H22's and k20 swaps that would walk a balt from a dig. especially with DR's. idk how those kids in michigan roll. but u come to the philly street races or just to the track. they all have DR's.

Well... There is a civic around that traps higher then a C6 Z06 around here. IIRC he traps 127. That's not who I'm running though. In fact I haven't heard back from the kid in the last couple days and he said the Cobalt had pulled 1 car on him. I still can't figure out if his car is that fast why would he not be able to go faster then 130? Is that where a Civic is governed or just drag reduced?

Sounds like he has a jdm type-r swap w/ 4.7 final drive if he's topping out at 130mph.. If that's what he has then I can see how he could keep up with a stock ss/tc.. Type-r's bolted should be in the 190whp range, and that in an ef hatch is a good combo

if it has alot of work it will pull past 130mph. my built civic is just a B16a1 obdo. it pulls till about 130 then takes alittle longer. mine is everything that you can think of. forged pistons, arp headt studs, eagle racing rods, crank(from a buddy). Ebay turbo and it gets me down the quarter in 13.2@107. that is with barely any money into it. if the kid knows what he is doing and he is only losing to a SS/TC by a car he has some serious work.

As of right now there's no garuntee it was a TC. He said it was and I asked the only other 2 people in the area with a TC that I know of and it wasn't them. There is a SC locally who I haven't met yet so it may have just been him.

stock trans wouldnt bolt up to anything worth swapping in. it wont fit B, K or H series engines.

yea unless i can hear them or see the side i have trouble telling a SC from TC from a NA SS. he probly beat a NA or SC. then again a NA couldnt keep up with a turbod civic. i hate to admit it but you can make those civics damn fast if you put money into em..like anything else. most people however just buy em and put money into cosmetics and fartcans
