S/C vs. E39 BMW M5
played w/ an E39 BMW M5 (1999-2003) the other day on the way home... I was amazed how well I kept up w/ him...we toyed in and around traffic, he wasn't a great driver in traffic (making poor lane choices leaving me in front and him catching up). When the road finally opened up... I banged down to 3rd to go after him and I shadowed him up to 130 mph. Good fun... he gave "peace" sign when we went separate ways he was obviously impressed w/ the SC's ability to not be left behind!!
here are some M5 facts
The E39 M5 had a highly tuned V8 engine based on the M62 engine called the S62, which displaced 4.9 L and produced 394 bhp. The engine featured a 7000 RPM redline, Double-VANOS
The E39 M5 is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds* and electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph*, making it the fastest 4-door factory line production sedan in the world at that time.
it's nice to play w/ history!!

I was never comfortable in traffic, never know what the other cars will do, they're terrible drivers
I've only got stage 2 and was at the rear tire of an M5. We went 0-80, he got the hole shot and never gave it up. Got thumbs up to.
Be safe

As I have matured (I am 45 now) I calculate my moves carefully, always assume that peeps will pull out in front of you, cut you off and brake for no reason. I DO NOT cut off other drivers (including commuters that are not involved) for a win.... If it's dangerous out there... I just let the other guy go... I'm not going to cause an accident to win (yep, that would not be winning).
that M5 was my ultimate dream car at one point 4 doors and Porsche like performance #'s
