SC vs Cayman S
ANDDD
Been there :-) Good kill!
The Cayman itself is a pig, the S is respectable.
They are just Boxters with hardtops basically.
I look for those because they are relatively easy kills, and you can devalue their midlife crisis in a heartbeat :-)
I agree..........except for the REAL Carrera GT, not the 911 Carrera GT

No model of a Cayman is a pig. Have you ever driven a Porsche before? I love how all of you guys know everything about Porsche when none of you have driven any of these cars before. The Cayman & S is AMAZING, the 997 911 is ASTOUNDING. You will never drive a better sports car unless you fork out for a Ferrari. Words cannot describe how awesome these cars are. They are not JUST Boxsters with hard tops. Have some respect for a real sports car....
Very nice post Jkennedy.
we never said that the cayman wasn't a nice car, because we all know that speed isn't the only reason you buy a porsche
BTW, i used to own a 79 911SC and it was a VERY fun car! i have a lot of respect for any porsche
and in your opinion stage 2 is a downpipe & tune... ROFL!!! wrong!

Stage 2 for an STI is at the very least a downpipe and tune. AP stage 2 requires DP, Utec stage 2 requires DP, ecutek stage2 requires DP, openECU stage 2 requires DP who is the *******???
I have a Stage 2...

Wow, I think I remember saying that the Cayman was the nicest Porsche outside of the Carrera GT. I like the looks of it, and it could no doubt outperform my car around a track.
I like the fact that the Cobalt is really an overpriced economy car packed with a struggling 4-cyl that has more issues than time magazine.
I have driven porsche's before, and most recently drove a Carrera. I prefer the Cayenne over a lot of other SUV vehicles, and it is no doubt that Porsche is nice.
I was trying to make a case for the fact that some of our Cobalts COULD beat a Cayman S, and that there is no reason to say that this guy who posted is full of bologne. We are not talking about a 3 sec porsche here, we are talking about a 5.x sec porsche vs a cobalt that 0-60's stock in 6.1. Car and Driver said that the Stage 2 Cobalt runs 0.5 secs faster 0-60 so that would put it at 5.6 sec. Some of us own faster cobalts than that! My Cobalt is fast, but other than that, it lacks everything else, and the exhaust sounds like a piece of crap unless I am under throttle. I can see why it is really hard to take the car seriously.
And the Cobalt can't handle worth a damn at high speeds. I found it out the hard way and almost killed myself. I found my car's limitations, and have been duely humbled.

Also didn't someone post up some infon that the Caymen S ran a 13.2?? No stage 2 only balt is touching that.
If someone is wondering why we are talking about 0-60 and 5-60 in a 140mph race, then why are we even talking about 1/4 mile times. They are equally irrelavent, since the 1/4 mile will only take you to 100-105 mph. Cars can behave drastically different after that.

I just drove a 2007 GT3 a few weeks ago.... I think I know what a Porsche is and respect it! aside from the fact that I have owned 2.... not GT3's

anyways I went to: www.mysportscar.com/tools/topspeed.htm
it's a top speed calculator and i came up w/ this 185.53
top speed based on tire size, gear ratios .... just go see if you are curious how I got that #
I know my car was still pulling at 145...
Just an FYI, The SS Wing bends in a "U" shape at those speeds in the middle (140MPH) if you keep them at that speed for more then 2 minutes. It's kinda fun to watch the wing bend like that.
I know because the one time I achieved a top speed run in the car I watch the back window to see what kind of force the dynamics do to the wing. It's not pretty.

they cayman s is a very nice car. i know because i have driven one. from what i've seen in a stage 2 cobalt, the cayman should have just pulled away. the shifting and everything feels just right in that car
And I should go back and clarify my PIG statement, because I think I should have been more clear anyways. I was referencing it in terms of other Porsches. The Cayman has nowhere near the output or speed of the 911, carrera, or most of the other porsche coupes. In that respect it IS more like a Boxter. And they are the slower of the Porsche's. Still a respectably fast car in it's own right.

so what was that top speed #?
