Sick ass race night!!!
Sick ass race night!!!
Last night I met up with bunch of guys on the local SRT forum. Two of them were pretty much maxed out stock turbo, one of the guys, TJ, made 298 whp on 91 octane, the other, Chase, hasn't been dyno'd yet, but based on his mods we seemed to be pretty damn close! There was another SRT with just intake and exhaust, a 350Z, a trailblazer SS, a 410 rwhp GTO, and a 2000 corvette with intake and catless exhaust. It was like 10 pm and we went out on the freeway to a completly empty portion, and just went at it! That **** was so much fun!!! DAMN, I've never gone that fast in any car before! On one of the multiple 40 rolls we did, I let off at 160 MPH!!! I raced Chase from 40 to 140. He jumped about a car ahead in start, because of his 1000 ft-lbs of torque at 2000 rpm
I lost by, oh half a fender or so. If we would have raced from a 65-70 roll it would have been either dead even or I would have been slightly ahead. Just like my prediction, he had more bottom end but I had more top end. Still Tjs car was rediculously fast, but I still never got more than 1.5-2 cars back from him!!! **** man he raced the corvette up to 170!!!! It was so much fun! Well, at least until I over heated my blower, that kinda sucked.
Oh and all these results were on a pissed off clutch, and the MOST MILD tune I have. 15.5 degrees of timing and a low-mid 11s AFR!!!
Seriously the most fun I've had in a LONG time
P.S. Its been suggested that I also post these races from last weekend
- Mid 80s Z28 with long tubes, full exhaust, cam, others? Defeated by 1.5-2 cars from a 65 roll
- Early 90s NISSAN SKYLINE R32 GTS-T with HUGE front mount, motor swap (can't remember which one, RB20-something), exhaust, unfinished tune. Defeated by 1-1.5 cars from a 70 roll
- 2004 Pontiac GTO with exhaust, cam, and a good tune, 410 rwhp. I lost by 1.5 cars from both a 40 and a 65 roll, still not bad concidering I was racing a car with 410 rwhp!

I'm pretty sure the blower over heated from 3 140 mph pulls, 1 150 mph pull, and 1 160 mph pull BACK TO BACK!!! 160 mph isn't exactly easy on the blower, thats overspinning it for a long period of time, after the 160 pull, my car started making a loud ticking noise, I pulled over and it turned out the sound was coming from the blower, which was EXTREMELY hot, like "can't even touch it" hot! Limped it back to the meeting place, turned it off, left the intercooler pump on, and the hood open for about 30-45 minutes, hopped in and turned it on, no sound, hasn't done it since and I still get full boost no problem.
Skylines are great cars. I grew up in Australia with them being as common as our cobalts are, they CAN be amazingly fast. but not all of them are ungodly race cars.
In fact some of them are downright slow unless you pour money at them.

All the races and no Pics or vids? WTF! j/p, next time get some one to take video of that ****. throw it on youtube or something and show the country out these cars are capable of, and maybe more vendors will see that we're really into modding and maybe want to get into more stuff for us. and rub the **** in the other guys face that he lost to a chevy 4 banger.
Hey does you friend with the Evo still wanna race?
Yes sir, 202 east past williams field. 10:30 on wednesday night, not another car for miles
Suprizingly it didn't take that long at all, I was still gaining speed in 5th gear when I let off!!!
