I raced a SI. I obviously won but I was very impressed so I did some research on the car.

found this..

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1610467&page=1

14.2 @ 96mph isnt garbage with only a cat-back which doesnt really add to much power unless the stock muffler is most restrictive absolute piece of garbage in the world.....

I've seen ALOT of SS/SC run slower then 14.2 on the 1/4 mile. Although his trap is slower then the SS/SC I would definately call it a drivers race from a stop...

First from a dig, he smokes his tires through second, and by that time I was GONE!!!. So he roles up next to me complaining blah blah blah...I race from a 30 mph start, we both down shift, and guess what...I'M GONE AGAIN. No time for his little V-TECH to kick in, and if it did, it would not have made a difference. Another kill for the SS/SC!!!

nice kill

I don't think the stock exhaust is as free flowing as ours, plus at that rpm, it needs all the breathing room you can give it. I also found a recent comparo test between the Si and some of its competition (no Cobalt, sadly). Obviously the 1/4 times can't compare to this guy as I'm sure the conditions are different as well, but you can see that it's slower than a GTI, even if just barely.

the same reason some people run 15+ second 1/4 with the SS/SC and others run low 14's. Exhaust isnt doing much, just driver...

Alot of Honda drivers (as with alot of cars, but I notice this the most with Honda's) suck at driving.

I don't see how 197hp on a car that's nerly 2900 lbs is going to run a very low 14 stock ( I don't count JUST an exhaust as anything major), unless Honda underrated it. So you're telling me it's as fast as an S2000 stock? I don't think so.

that guy is on another forum that i also belong to. he posted his times, slips and a video and people on the forum refused 2 believe him. I mean i love this car and all but im going to be realistic. He also stated he was power shifting. Exhaust+Powershifting cannot shave off .6 sec in quarter mile(he said his previous time at the track was 14.8). People in the site average about 14.8-14.7 and there's the few who bitch and moan cuz they cant break 14's yet hahaha. I dont know but exhaust and powershifting should have brought him to 14.6-14.5 on a very good day. 14.2 is very questionable. Just my 2 cents coming from someone who owns the same car. BUT If its true, im im-*******-pressed

it's not even close, fools got like a stage 3 upgrade from cobb, and engine stuff from hks, and a butt load of suspension work. I beat it once though, me and a bunch of friends stoled his car while he was sleeping and someone who didn't really know how to drive lost to me, doesn't really count though, damn haha

nice kill, sadly i think this thread will turn into a huge chevy vs honda debate

If that's the case, wait until the ECM is cracked and people start talking about "retarding" the timing in their cars.............OUCH!!!!!

I ran my brothers STOCK s2000 13.98 at Cecil Cty dragway and that wasnt even my car I'm sure an owner could do better. You proving what I'm saying. IF you cant drive the car isnt going to be fast no matter what it is..

What do you want? The guy has a time slip, pic of the car with matching numbers from the time slip and a video somewhere....

Would you believe it if you saw it in person? I doubt it...

You dont see how a 197 hp car can run a low 14? STOCK I ran my 227 (200 at the wheels) WRX at 13.89, other people have gotten as low as 13.7. Thats HALF of a second faster then the SI with 30 hp and heavier. Seems right on if the SI had good traction...
