i beat a bolt on evo 8 (non mr) with just a tune and boltons (ss/sc)
i know the MRs are much much faster not sure if an ss/sc even stands a chance with anymods short of a full turbo swap

i'm not an evo educated person, but i'm going to say a more aggressive tune, and i think the MR comes with better suspension, seats, and stuff like that. i think all evos are 6 speed. just my guess

Not at all. The MR isn't any faster in the 1/4.

In 2006 there were 3 trims of Evo from lowest to highest: RS, IX (technically GSR but the USA model never adopted that designation), MR. They all had the same engine/tune. The MR was the only one to come with a 6spd manual, the other 2 came with 5spds. Gears 2/3/4 were the same ratio as the 5spds - 1/5/6 were different. They all had the same seats which were redesigned Recaros with leather/alacantra instead of the fabric Recaros found on older Evos. The MR suspension was different as it had slightly different spring rates and bilstien shocks/struts with better dampening along with forged BBS lightweight wheels. All MR's/RS's and SE's came with an aluminum roof. The MR's all got the cheese graders on the roof as well.

The MR's are simply a trim level. The performance between the 3 trims is negligible except for handling where the different suspension package made a difference in the MR. Most drag enthusiasts dont buy the MR because the 6spd is a little bit weaker than the 5spd. If they do, they usually swap the 6 out for a 5.

Correct. They are more often about a tenth slower (stock) because the MR also weighs the most out of the 3.
