SS/TC vs. 2010 camaro ss
Why is it so unbelievable that a tuned SS/TC can beat a stock Camaro SS 6sp? The best i've seen a stock Camaro SS 6sp go is 12.87 . In their top ten list there are alot of 13.3's and 13.5's. In stock form it's basically a drivers race with an older LS1 Fbody.
Supposidly the record for a stock Camaro SS manual is 12.87@109

I SAID IS THAT THE 6 SPEED AND HE SAYS HELL NO ITS A 6.2L. I SAID THATS NOT WHAT I ASKED, USED LAUNCH CONTROL AND SMOKED HIM OFF THE LINE WE WENT TO 90 MPH AND I WAS AHEAD BY A HALF CAR AND HE SHUTS DOWN. I figured by him busting tires loose in 2nd that it was the six speed
All 5th gens are 6 speeds!!! V8 or V6 have auto or manual 6 speeds!!!!!
End rant....
That being said old dude needs driver mod. That COULD be a 12.9 car as it sits. There have been a few hit that and at least 13.0 to 13.3, if your stock he should have taken you.
I have the cortex tune, a downpipe, and the airbox mod, trapped 87 through the 1/8th and ran 8.5s on the stock tires... and I wouldn't think the air box mod and downpipe would add THAT much power over just running the SC tune like the topic creator..... the two SS Camaros that have ran at our track, both went a best of 8.8s... in fact, they run about like the stock LS1 f-bodies through the 1/8th(or what those cars used to run when they were new and low mileage)... maybe both had bad drivers but I don't think a new SS versus a LNF that isn't on the stock tune(which most that have posted in this topic seemed to miss) is going to be the raping you all think it would be...
And again, its a stupid argument. Get an ariel atom with a 500WHP small displacement V8, and race it against a vette and see what happens.... I can do this all day long. The only valid competition is what you run across. Magazine and dream racing is immature and stupid.
I ran two 2010 Camaro's out at the track. One was a bone stock auto: I got a shitty launch and he got me out of the hole just over a have a car. Once I hooked up I started to inch on him little by little and by the end of the 1/8 I had him by about a fender. It was a very good race but he didn't want to race again. The second was an auto with full exhaust and tune: He raped me from start to finish and put about 4-5 cars on me.
I am not cocky and I don't think my cobalt is the end all be all of cars but I thought this would be funny and had to put it on.

Why .... The 2 camaro SS's i've seen at the track went 13.60's ..... the same track I went 13.40's . Auto's really aren't that impressive which i assume they both were . A STOCK SS/TC doesn't have much of a chance either way ....but a tuned one does ...even a weaker tuned superchip's car.

I agree with your point but I would like to make a point too. A 6spd Camaro SS is impressive, just not that impressive! They are heavy pigs that take a massive V8 to run a subpar 1/4 mile, and it will cost you $40k+....and mods aren't cheap to improve their times..
Against a stock camaro ss it's not to bad up top. Once there tuned I can still take it till about 110 then they start to pull.
o im not a camaro fan anyways, but that massive v8 has a ton of potential lol
Uhhhhh... To Acey who said a tuned and bolted TC should keep up with a new Camaro SS do you know anything about the new Camaro? Just a tuned T/C should outrun a new Camaro SS from a roll. A tune only could keep up with the new Camaro SS from a dig too if the T/C has an excellent driver and the Camaro has an average driver. 8 times out of 10 the Camaro's going to win from a dig though. Bolted and Tuned the Cobalt is starting to take the edge from the Camaro out of a dig even. bolted and tuned T/C's tend to run about what stock Camaro SS's run 1/4 mile times. From a roll though.... Well Bye Bye Camaro, see you at like 130 when it finally catches up to the T/C
Stock for stock Idk what the Camaro traps but I would say the T/C wouldn't be too far behind from a roll.

I have a friend who has one at work, we race all the time, he has the SS Auto. Out of the hole he gets me to about 40 when I have a tiny bit of traction. Then I pull past him. He doesn't catch up. The stock turbo may be weak on top end, but it depends on how you are tuned and when you make your power. My car is all top end. It helps me a bit because I am in higher elevation, but the stock camaro SS is not all its cracked up to be. It has tons of potential, but stock around here they barely trap over 100 and can barely get into the high 13's. Stock SS/TC's run close times around here. Also another co worker of mine has an 07 Mustang GT with intake exhaust (headers back) and a tune, and he stays even with the Camaro when they race, (to 80) and gets raped on top end after 80. The stang runs a 13.9@101 and the Camaro the best I have seen it do was a 13.7@104 at firebird. At SIR he has only got a 13.9@101, the elevation kills them. Me with shitty tires (I got that fixed now) ran a 13.4@110 @firebird. 2.2 60 ft. The camaro SS driver got a 1.9 60 with his 13.7 run.

110...stock for stock would be embarassing. its takes a pretty agressive tuned and bolted tc to keep up. im talking 110+ traps. which isnt super typical alot of tuned tcs are trapping around 108. i think the guy that was tuned by area47 was trapping 113, and that was agressively tuned and fully bolted. granted there are some cars trapping a little higher, but these guys have been tuning there personal cars for countless hours, and its not the typical norm. i wouldnt expect the average superchips tune or trifecta tune to be able to pull those numbers.

Thanks for the info, I had no clue what they trapped stock. My best pass on a tune alone was a 13.3@111. All of my traps on my tune prior to doing bolt-ons were 109-111. Always wanted to run a new Camaro SS but I swear that the new Camaro SS owners are cockier then Mustang GT owners! They don't feel that they can lose to anything. That's how they are around here anyways.

just so you know the auto kills that camaro top end and it is detuned to 400 HP.

thats a nice trap speed for no bolt ons at all. who tuned you? theres no doubt you can beat the camaro at the strip, unless you run into a good driver. with some better tires, with that trap you can get into the 12's fer sure. i suspect your trap will be about the same though because tire spin does inflate trap speed a little bit.

Thanks. My friend who's got the BTF GT30 kit on his car tunes me. I'm looking into possibly getting Trifecta's tune this spring along with ZZP's fuel rail upgrade. If at all possible I'm gonna look to make a 118 trap speed in 2010 on stock turbo. I estimate with my current mods I'm probably trapping 113-114. I'll find out this summer though. I've talked to a lot of people and they all assure me I won't snap my axle launching the car so she's gonna get to make some real passes down the track. I've never launched spinning off the line before.
I'm up for making the drive, I just don't want to make it for nothing. I don't have the funds for slicks currently so I'm looking at Conti's new MaxContacts or Kuhmo XCT-S's. I'll be running 255's most likely.
It's not detuned, it is a different motor. L99 vs. Ls3. L99 has VVT and a few other features. It makes more miderange too so if both had the same tranny, chances are the L99assuming it wasnt killed with torque management, would be the LS3. Tune only L99s are running 12.6s.
