SS vs 2003 S2k

Buddies got one thats lowered,CF hood, dual Magnaflow exhaust, and tints. His daddy bought it for him, I got Ottp 4th gen H/E,Air box mod (soon to be Fujita 3' intake) and maybe a tune. Uninstalled in the trunk is my 42's 2.9 pulley,1 step colder plugs. Highway roll could i take him with my H/E and Airbox mod or do i need the rest to woop him

LMK

I'm thinking it'd be close or he'd get you now. Install the 2.9 and beat him

H/E and airbox mod is not going to beat him. You need your 42s, 2.9 and a tune for sure to even have a chance of beating him.

just my .02 but a header/dp/catback setup is gonna cost you upwards of $800, and thats if you really watch your spending lol, a tune will only cost you a couple hundred so i'd just throw your injectors/pulley on etc, get tuned and spank him!

If he is not a pretty good driver you might be able to take him. The power band on the S2K is through the roof. It needs to be int he upper 90% of the RPM range to do anything. The SC has a better powerband, it would be an interesting race I think... IF yours is tuned and with that pulley you should pretty well destroy him... Run him the way you are now just to see though. Then blow his anus open when you get the rest of your mods done.

Actually the 03 was the last year of the ap1, aka 9000 rpm redline. 04 moved to 2.2L, 8000 rpm redline.

With the way the cars are now, no doubt you are right... But the S2K is kind of a bitch to drive well. cuz they have ZERO power before like 5k rpm. If the driver shifts a hair too early he is done.

the later engine for the s2k (f22c1) is actually better not worse. they make more torque and same hp with a better torque curve that doesnt need to be in the upper 90% to make power. they are also about two tenths faster in the quarter on average and the engine can handle more power (700 whp on complete stock longblock). even with the 2.9 it should be a good race if the guy can drive. the s2ks are pretty fast from a roll

Yea, If you go peruse the honda forums you can actually see where the V-tec hits on a dyno. There will be a noticeable drop then bump at like 6500 rpm I think.. I'd have to look at one but go check it out. Oh and another thing, make sure that the dyno they are using is set on engine RPM and not wheel speed... haha one guys said he had a 300whp SI and the dyno was on wheel speed or some crap and you can't tell when the powerband kicks in I dunno it seems like they do everything the can to make their cars SEEM fast and not BE fast.

idk i think it should be a damn good roll race, when my uncle had a stock 03 s2k and my balt was bone stock it was pretty dead even he maybe inched me out. that was the result with any s2k i raced stock for stock.

IDK, I rode in one and it felt really slow. Still enough to have your hands full though.

Well dude, in defense of a S2K, you are running a pretty ballsy car there amigo... Even a highly modded S2k will fall prey to the beastly SRT you have there. I would love to dig or roll a race on an S2k. What I lose off the line, I will make up for in 2nd and 3rd gear. They will have us FWD cars on a road track though for sure... They handle like a fairy lit on coke.

Install your parts and get your tune first and you'll have no worries. My GM STG 2 balt will ring a nearly stock s2k out! For sure!!! I you run him as is, from a dig you'll probably lose. If you roll rice, you should take him.
