i've said this a million times but i used to own a modded z. if you race a bad driver you can probably edge one out, intake and exhaust don't do squat for those cars. on paper, the Z has better numbers across the board. it's only slightly heavier but doesn't make that much of a difference. just fwiw, with equal drivers stock for stock the Z wins.

from all the people posting war stories threads with a huge hard on because they beat a Z or a G35, driver skill has a lot to do with it, everyone assumes our cars are faster but they're not.

Not to mention that there are also AUTO Z and G, but no AUTO SS/SC

Would it be more exciting for you if we posted the OBVIOUS wins, or would you rather have a debated thread about the race, that could last a few days and include facts and toids that we can learn from. Not all races have the same outcome, and we like to hear these stories. I don't think that anything said to this point has been out of hand, or unrealistic.

It's fun. And I probably do act like I drive a fast car, but on the street I drive kinda slow these days and take it easy. I notice more and more people driving around me to get by.

Psyko... Stock 07's with good drivers have seen 13.3-13.5 stock. Better than most modded 03-06 cars...

Stock for stock a 350z with a good driver and a balt with a good driver. The Z will win everytime. You go and buy your stage 2(1300-1600) and a z with a plenum spacer, test pipes, drop in filter and a y pipe(400-600) will still put a car length on one from a roll. Like i said this is a good driver to good driver.

Psyko. What kind of times are you turning over in that stage 4? How much has it cost you?

Also my Z stock 04 did 13.8@102.

Also if there is anyone who is close to Anniston,Al. That would like to line up and get a video of a 350z vs a Cobalt ss/sc pm me.

I beat a Turbo 350z from a dig last night. Slapped him hard out of the hole and he wasn't catching up

Then I'd have to say he wasn't trying. Especially since they run high 13's stock, throw on a turbo... and a stock 6.0L Goat isn't going to rape it. Most Turbo 350Z's are no joke... especially the Twin Turbos. I creamed my pants the first time I saw one in person.

Wow, this thread grew more than I expected. Well I'm glad you all have gotten into such a big discussion over this. Hell I have learnt more about the 350z's than I wanted to know LOL.

Believe it or not I edged him about 2 cars or so, I have no clue how I done it, guess he was not able to drive the best, not sure. As I said earlier on in this thread I wish I had a video camera to show you the results, but I don't. Just have to argue it out amongst yourselfs I guess. I never claimed that my balt was 400 hp btw....honestly its slow IMO.

Stage II is worthless IMO.

I have not raced an '07 yet, because it has been about 9 months since I have raced a Z.

Stock for stock Z wins.....no doubt. There are less stock SS/SC's on my roads than stock Z's.

My stage 4/5 cost me $525.00, not a bad price for what I gained.

I am not a good track driver, and I have admitted it many times. My best 1/4 is 14.001, at TWO different tracks. Both at 106mph on pump gas. They say I am cursed to never break into the 13's, but I know it is all my fault and don't blame anything else. Off the track in a roll race (how most races take place these days) I am a much better driver, because it is a lot easier. I have raced Z's from both digs and rolls, and never lost, but those drivers could be to blame also.

Stg2 is only $550, $1300-$1600 would make a cobalt much, much more

I've only put about $1500 into my car.

Fujita, Stage 2, 2.8", GMPP header, GMPP Exhaust, XTC 2.5"dp, solid tranny mounts.

And I already posted the video of me raping a 350Z... lemme post it again :

USMC vs 04 350Z

And if you can find a stock 07 350Z in the area... I'll gladly race him for the fun of internet glory . SO check your 350Z forums and send someone my way.

I couldn't agree more--not only for acceleration issues, but fuel economy. I'm seriously considering a Quaife 6-speed conversion (among a few other options).

Well the price of the stage 2 i put up was from a cobalt owner who got it at the dealer from here.

I've thrown 3800 in my Z and run 12.2@115 on street tires and pump gas(93) in 80 degree weather.

Love the video, never saw that one before. :-) Looks about right, though I had some closer races when I was just stage 3. Haven't had but that 1 turbo Z race me since I got the Stage 4/5 (Stage 5 but only running the stage 4 pulley for the summertime)

Yeah, everyone pays a different price for Stage 2. I have heard of rediculous prices in that $1,000+ range, so you weren't being unrealistic.

My buddy BLurpleSS Financed his in his car deal installed for $650.00. That way it's covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. A lot of people don't know that the Stage 2 stuff is only a 12,000 mile warranty if you have it installed after you buy the car. (I would know. I was a GM Aftermarket director for a short while)

Wish I had 80* weather, I was running in 103* temps at 11pm! WTF!

I don't know, I get 29mpg average these days on my meter, and that was over a month and a half. Sometimes I do wish we had a better overdrive, but it is already a good overdrive ratio compared to average cars. I just wish there were another acceleration gear in there somewhere.
