stock 06 SS/SC vs. stock 05 GTO
Many of you might have clicked on this in a hurry to see " dude did he beat the GTO ?!?!!"
not a chance.
after work and dinner, I cruised around for just a bit.. found myself next to a shiny yellow 05 GTO (happens to belong to a guy I went to high school with, he used to have an STi and got rid of it for this GTO a few weeks ago as it turns out).
I pull behind him and we come up to a stoplight and after a little bit he indicates turning right (toward the Interstate).. so I figure he must be wondering if I'll follow him so I indicate as well, after the light turns and the car in front of him clears he turns and hits stomps the gas a bit, so I follow him and we head up to the Interstate.
In front of him is a highway patrol, and luckily the patrol car takes the on-ramp headed east/south , GTO takes the west/north on-ramp so I follow suit knowing that our chances are very good there isn't a patrol car right there, also knowing I stand no chance against the 05 GTO (an 04 GTO would be closer...).
he gently accelerates up, and immediately pulls to the left lane so I pull up next to him in the right lane.. we both stab our throttles a bit back and forth, and then nail it without any real 'start', so from a roll around 55 or so we're both WOT, and he pulls away quickly and effortlessly easily putting a couple car lengths on me before we get to 100or so.
I was shifting poorly and hit rev-limiter even, so he really dusted me quick.
next attempt we're about 40mph and he gives the 3 honks and I nail it, again he pulls away to multiple car lengths and lets off around 100ish. I was shifting better this time but even though I may clearly not be a pro at race-shifting, the 210hp LSJ doesnt stand a chance against the 400hp LS2
So we pull off at the next exit and into gas station and chat for a bit, I hadn't talked to him since maybe high school or something, long damn time.
Good fun

Race one from a dig they are a bitch to launch. While he is wondering what he just broke wheel hopping through 1st you can get a good jump on him. After that look out!
Although it never gets old stomping LS2's in my Camaro SS.
But, But I have 400HP..............
