Please get rid of it! We don't need a wuss who thinks he's going blow his engine up by giving her a little!

Former Nissan owner here. Ive had a 94 Sentra SE-R with a SR20DET setup putting down 255whp 216lb/tq Was running 13.17 1/4 miles before it caught on fire.

Also had a 2000 Altima limited Nismo edition # 17 of 20. Nothing special just different body kit, wheels, suspension, exhaust, intake, throttle body, agressive cam profile, and agressive tune. Only ran about a 14.9 1/4 mile. Bought it off the showroom floor in 2000 for $27,000.

The SS/SC's are quick in their own respect and probably faster stock then the new Maximas. I bet the new Altima is even of faster then a SS/SC stock. But the big difference here is quality. Nissan makes quality cars. GM doesnt. Its that simple. The quality of parts, and the attention to interior detail would lead me to choose a new Nissan over a new GM after my experiences with Chevy. I will never buy another Chevy. In fact I pray every day someone will just total my car so I can get out from under it. I really really wanna get another SE-R (newer model) or maybe a Talon TSI.

the SE-R is no joke. super nice cars, and decently fast. i wouldnt be surprised if he was able to beat a ss/sc.

On the highway I've seen a stock ss/sc easily out perform a 3.5L Altima from about 60 km/h to 120 km/h.

i agree with the quality part... the new maximas are not touched by the cobalt... a coworker has one, and the inside is really, really nice... that's the advantage of paying 37,000 for a new car though...

v6 altimas run high 14's.. my dad had a g35 sedan (same motor v6 3.5l) and it would run 14.7s (according to car and driver).

And some magazines ran 15s with the SS/SC.

Some Altimas just like some SS/SCs have ran very low 14s.

Magazine raing is lame! An Altima is no slouch. They run similar times to the SS/SC so if you are not on your game you will lose!!!

mid 13's....no

high 13's...yes

i have seen a FEW 350z's run high 13's. the manual z's can run 13's with a good driver, i don't think the autos ever will. you guys forget that most other cars come in manual AND automatic.

ehhh, i worked for nissan USA, and i disagree about the quality thing. i don't think that nissan is anything special, in fact, i'd probably not buy one due to a few major issues that i've seen.

for 37k, there is a lot more car to be had for the money than a max.

back to the racing thing, i think a max would probably take a SS S/C, they're not slow.

you cant just trust these magazine times. they can be biased. they tested the 350 four times. three times they ran 14s then magicaly they run 13.7. you should find that issue of mt and count how many ad spaces nissan bought in that issue. if it is true the old 300zx tt can do 13.8-13.9 how did the 350 which should do 13.7 lose by 3 car lenghths. after the line the 300zx was still pulling on the 350. go to the local track sit down and watch. you will see the magazine times are majority bs.
