Stock SS/SC vs. RX-8
Stock SS/SC vs. RX-8
While heading from work to the bar last night, some chick in a yellow auto rx-8 with exhaust and I dunno what else (a yellow on yellow race, how cute) comes flying up next to me with her douche-looking boyfriend (wife beater and sideways cap rocking out to some Ludacris) and he asks if I want to race. Yeah, wtf, not in any hurry. Of course he tells me he's got some 350 whp accord that'd blow the doors of my car....apparently they had those out like candy now-a-days, b/c every passenger I ever talk to has one.
Start from a dig, I pull on her out of the hole and am about 3 cars up by the time I shift to 3rd. Shut it down at 95 and she'd quit at some point. She catches up at the next light and asks to go from a 40 roll this time....ummm, sure
(from my races I've had, this is where the 'balts are the strongest against most cars, esp. those that put out more power, i.e. new-edge mustangs). This race I had about a car and a half on her when I tried to shift into 3rd....tried being the operative word, because I missed....I am teh suxor. She caught me by the time I got it into gear, but I pulled another car and a half ahead and cut off at 100.
I considered getting an RX-8 about a year ago, I like the looks and have generally been a FoMoCo guy in the past, but damn am I glad I went with the coby.

The rx8 gets all its power high in the rpm range.. i used to have one, i am a rotary nut!!! my 93 fd is getting a 20b engine right now.. i hope u know what a 20b engine is.. the rx8 isnt for a drag strip, but if u went on a curvy track with lots of twists and turns it would destroy you.. they have the best curb weight and handling i have ever felt in a car, and i work for mercedes. also i miss my 9000 rpm redline..

RX-8 are nice cars, good looking but from a roll i believe the cobalt would win stock to stock, but from a dig i would think the rx-8 has the advantage but mostly it would depend on the driver, nice kill by the way
, but for everyday driving the cobalt gets much better mpg which is always a plus for me
Hate to burst anyones bubble here but those automatic RX-8s are rated at like 197hp or something. Take drivetrain loss, and the fact that Mazda overrates those cars and it probably makes like 150-155whp.
RX-8 isint much of a race unless they hang way up in their rpms like they are supposed to. Most of them shift early. I was taunting one on the highway in fourth and the old guy would just let off me everytime. Lush!
