Tofu vs. Taco X-runner
Tofu vs. Taco X-runner
On my way back from class about a half hour ago I caught a light next to a guy I've seen a few times heading down Aldine Westfield (road next to the community college) in a pretty sweet blue colored X-runner Tacoma. I was checking out his ride and didn't notice the light turned green. He dropped the clutch and left a pretty impressive pair of burnt rubber on the road. I thought to myself "sweet! Let's see what she's got"....you guys have to understand that being in a stock looking Silverado nets you about.....one race per three months..so I was a little excited lol.
Anyway, I caught up to him making a right turn onto a fairly deserted backroad that leads to one of the highways. I couldn't have asked for a better spot to run. I got up next to him, going about 30mph (my sweet spot) and he obviously knew what was about to go down cuz his window was half down and he rev-matched into a lower gear when I got beside him. I did the honor of honking while I hit the "Tow/Haul ASS" button. On the third honk he jumps about half a truck on me as it takes a split second for the tranny to kick down into 1st. The kick-down chirped the tires and I started pulling nicely. The truck is tuned to shift at 6,400 rpms in "Tow/Haul ASS" mode and being an LSX based motor it pulls the whole frkn way lol.
When it was all said and done (around 75mph) I had about two trucks on him. Pretty impressive for a V6 truck and they are sweet looking. I was just looking on the Taco boards and most people run 15.6-16.0's stock...which is around what I ran. So it would probably be closer if he was a bit more modded.
