well last night was pretty fun night....
i raced a new gen gti and i beat him 1-1
gen before that one got me 3-0 =\
this was at a car group meet


now we moved on to Regal in dallas

i was just sitting on the side watching the street races and this red wannabe mustang gt (v6) kept reving up to me so i went after him..

mustang got owned 2-0
then 2 different integras one newest body and one the square boxy body, dont know what sub model but they both had yellow fog lights
beat both of them 1-0

then a modded to hell celica gt-s was so damn close to beating me, he was at my rear quarter the whole time

when i was trying to run the celica a srt4 pulls up by me and revs up and your hear his turbo spoil. lol he wouldnt race anything but turbo or supercharged cars and he finally wants to race me. i said f*** and he smiled and beat me bad =\

i have 2.2

 

that gti must of not been turbo then..

Modded to hell could mean a body kit and rims man.... maybe an exhaust and possibly and intake...

peoples ideas of what modded is differ..

Seriously, can we stop automatically calling people liars just because they "shouldn't" have won based on the specs of cars. Racing isn't done by robots and there are lots of reasons he could beat a better car.

You take a shitty enough driver and throw them into a new corvette and I'll walk all over them all day long.

The "modded" GTS was deff was an AUTO, no way it would've ran that slow unless he wasn't racing for real.

The AUTO GTS's make us 6 speed manual owners look bad...their horrible gearing ratios make them slower than the 140 hp AUTO Celica GT vehicles...

 

Haha... that's funny... a 2.2 beat a new GTi... that's almost as funny as the guy on MySpace that made a video of his 2.2 beating a "Trans-Am" in a 1/8 mile parking lot drag! Then, when I confronted him about it... he said he had a Supra TT engine swap in his Balt! He later confessed that the supra engine was a lie... but wouldn't admit that the other car was actually an Auto V6 firebird!

 

bull **** suckin mother ****** **** u beat a gti and a v6 and whatever lies you pull out of your ass! What i love best about your fictional tale is that a gti and a v6 mustang got owned but the celica (slowest of the 3) is the one that gave you the most comp.

 

I haven't followed imports for a long time but what I recall from a friend's GTS it was only putting like 120lbs of torque at nearly 7,000 RPMs. And even with that, you won't get any real acceleration until you top out 2nd gear. I thought this was common knowledge about a lot of imports? A good driver in a 2.2l could beat an RSX Type-S too. Especially from a stop. Mod-for-mod the Cobalt will always beat these cars. Maybe not from a 40mph roll, stock. But mod-for-mod hell yes. The races against the Integras and GTS I believe, and being neck-to-neck with the GTS makes sense. Because eventually the car will start to pick up speed.

I'm curious as to what modded to hell GT-S means though too. A friend of mine owns a 2005 and he's got a RS turbo. He put almost $6,000 into that project ($4k or so for a kit, and like $2k in supporting mods). His car is still slow from a stop, but otherwise that car is fast as hell.

I hope you 05 owners get tuning someday. It'd be nice to see people's faces when they see the results. Good kills, you must know how to drive well.
