Vector Tuned 2.4 SS v. Stock SS/SC

Mods are in my sig versus a stock SS/SC. WSFrazier and a bunch of 'Burgh Cobalts met for some fun around Monroeville. We decided to see how the 2.4 with vector tune and CAI did against a bone stock SS/SC. We did a few roll ons from 2nd gear and 3rd gear and the cars were almost evenly matched. About part way through 4th gear the SS/SC would slowly walk away from the 2.4 but by that time speeds were nuts so we soon braked.

PapazZ1101 (auto 2.4 wth Injen) and I also did a few rolls on which weren't close the 5 speed walked away convincingly at 2nd and 3rd gear roll ons (in the 5 speed) Dan was in "I". We also went from a dig a few times although closer, the 2.4 with Vector Tune walked away pretty nicely.

FastSS06 and I did a few runs too. He has a 2.8 pulley and even said the Vector Tuned car was pretty hard to pull away from and also if I got the jump pretty hard to catch.

Cliff notes. Don't sleep on Vector tuned 2.4s if you are stock..

Thats pretty sweet. Those 2.4's are pretty good NA motors.

Thats very encouraging,We consider the ss/sc the bad boy of its class, when it comes to na 4 bangers the 2.4 can sure put it to the competition

My car is basic too, so its very light. No leather, no sunroof, no Pioneeer System, I am thinking if I don't trade it for a SS/SC here are the following upgrades focusing on lightening it..next time near a landfill I am going to weight it.

Hawker Lightweight Battey 12 lbs instead of stock 22lbs
Lightweight 17 inch rims (ROTA SUBZERO) 17lbs
Weapon R Long Tube Header
Upgraded Vector Long Tube Header Tune +8-10 whp/+5-10 ftlbs
2.5 inch exhaust
lightweight flywheel

This should put it safely in the low 14s...then I throw on the 75 SHOT..

Actually I have it and I forgot to upload it last night. I'll have to get it later tonight. It's not great... I wasn't ready for you guys to take off so I was way behind you and Dave. But I'll throw it up online later tonight anyway.

If it was the last race we did both Dave and I blew the start...the green came so quick I launched at idle...bogged and gave up after first, saw Dave gave up, hit it again, saw Dave hit and then we both gave up, laughed, called each other.... said it sucked and went our own ways.

We might have to get Wes again and go make a new one with his and my car for eveyone to see.

With those i can definatly see us tuned 2.4's in the low low14's. My goal is to run a 13.99 1/4 or a 8.99 1/8th NA. I keep tryin to get my buddy in his S/C to run me cause he doesn't even believe i'll hang with him. Did you get any runs w/ the S/C from a dig?

Actually I have a 2.9" pulley, but still, very impressive 2.4 SS. If you get the jump, I can catch up, but it's a very slow catch-up.

Yeah the video I have is from the last "race". We should do it again sometime soon and get a good video of a good run. Maybe Wes can bring his camera and set up halfway up the hill.

How much is the Vector tune?

What kind of power gains do you think you got?

I would search but I am at work and very busy.

That for me makes about as much sense as slicing a watermelon with a rocket powered crow bar...You need to be racing Coyotees on rocket boosters.!!

Yeah, needless to say, when I looked over and saw that you were still dead even with me, I was surprised lol. Even Dave said he had a little trouble catching back up. You'd might kill me from a dig, I havent even tried launching this new car at all yet.

Looks like we are getting dyno'd today so we'll see.

May be they have scales there so we can get a weight on both cars too.

Im curious, with my mods I think I will get 190hp, more importantly better throttle response and torque?

yeah i dynoed 160 (mustang dyno) with I/E/Tune. With a full header back ie. weapon r, or Clear image header w/zzp downpipe/cat, plus a retune i would think to see another 10whp atleast maybe a bit more. Of course thats all peak power, the tune really unlocks alot of tq at the lower-mid rpms maybe 2000-4000. I'm wanting to see how much a higher octane will help out the tune since its tuned for premium, i'd really like to see a 2.4 tuned on 105 but who can run that all the time?

Sorry, but wsfrazier must not be able to drive worth a crap. I just looked at your guys's dyno sheets. First, WSfrazier dyno'd lower than almost every other stock S/C SS I've seen. Second, Wsfrazier had 41 more horsepower at the wheels, and 34 foot lbs more torque at the wheels than GTP. That's big difference! With you being a sedan, GTP, you aren't going to be lighter than him either. Good races, but I wouldn't go assuming that you can hang with all stock S/C SS's. You'll meet one that has a good driver one day and get your feelings hurt. Take care.

I by no means consider myself a pro driver, maybe noit even a good one now that I got into that little fender bender today, but you can't really mess up from a roll. Just simply drop it and go. I will say the first run we did I should have been in 2nd and not 3rd. But instead of bashing me give George some congrats
