That was a good kill for the GTO but I think perhaps all the mutli coplored body paint slowed down the Stage 2 haha...either that was the slowest stage 2 on record...or the fastest GTO on record. I pulled a 13.5 @ 101 in my stage 2 balt with stock tires and exhaust.
I would LOVE to race you ljavy...the goat not so much, because it is stock...not much fun whoopin' on stock GTO's. Besides...who cares...I wouldn't be able to go around telling friends...they would be like...yeah so? You beat a stock car?
But you...on the other hand...I would like to race you...don't you have an engine swap or something?

There is a little more there than stage 2, check the garage. It put down 270whp on the dyno which is 305 crank using GM's claimed 15% drivetrain loss.
So this race was 400hp V8 vs 300hp 4cyl.

Using the stage 2 tune your not getting 300whp without nitrous or going into the motor and some dude asked if that was crank or whp, so I laughed

There is video of a 276 whp cobalt hanging with a 03 cobra pretty good and I KNOW you are all smoking some heavy duty drugs if you think the LS2 GTO is as fast as a 03-03 cobra.

If it's not a stage 2 tune, stage 2 pulley, stage 2 anything...maybe your buddy slo sho should rename the video to something other than "stage 2 vs GTO"

The 03-04 cobra is about equal or a drivers race with an 05-06 6 spd gto. The fastest I have seen a cobra go is 12.6 at 112 and for a gto 12.8 @ 110 and those are the absolute best. Average the numbers are within a error range to be considered the about the same with the edge going to the cobra. No modding is a different game, as many 03-04 cobras are modded. Pulley and tune and they are 450 rwhp. It takes a big cam and other supporting bolt ons for a gto to get to that number. Summing it up, a stock 05-06 gto and a stock 03-04 cobra are about equal, the difference in negligable in drivers and conditions.
As far as the stage 2 race and a stock GTO. All I have is mufflers and a drop in K&N which is maybe 10 hp and I raced Japeatr (here is his sig Engine:Flowmatched 60#s, GMPP Stg. 2 belt/2.8" pulley, SScartuning HPtune and ported throttle body, GMPP Dual Pass Option B, Injen CAI, Cu NGK -one step plugs, Innovative LC1 wideband w/AF gauge, New tranny, Trans mounts, Ingalls TD, dynamat firewallSuspension: Eibach Sportlines, DC strut brace, TF rear spring brace, Bridgestone Potenza RE960 pole position 225/40/18s, JBP CA Bushings, red calipersExterior:Ti*Black wheels, Black Halo/LED Projectors, GMPP pedals, SS front grille logo/deleted bowties, shorty ant., red LEDs,JBP fuse box, red hood/trunk shocks) which is what around 270 or so wheel hp? Anyways he can tell you, the results are similar to the race shown, maybe little less. 20-100+ maybe 2 cars? and 50-100+ 1-2 cars? Somewhere in that area. It was a mute point. His car is fast but has a little more to go to take a mostly stock GTO 6spd. As the speed climbs the pull hardens. nearing a 100 is where the gap widens. Looking at the vid again, the second race seems similar of what our race looked like until he let off. Even comparing power to weight the number favor the gto. Vid is legit IMHO. Tyler

I am curious how my car would do against one from a slow roll all the way above a hundred though where our cars are geared better. You have some impressive numbers there. No from a stock internal perspective I am about full tilt, which is part of the reason I am scared to get a different exhaust. I dynod 312WHP on HO mode with nitrous this last weekend. Thats alot of horsies for stock pistons

On a side not, I totally respect what nitrous does to a car and the power it makes. Its just not for me. A good friend of mine gave me this quote "nitrous is like steroids, any can shoot up and become big with minimal work; just like anyone can spray and go fast". Thats why I usually like to run the other person on and off the the bottle to get an idea. I tell you what though, that button is addicting!! Another favorite quote "I have no shame, i've sprayed a Scion". LOL, if your playin' your sprayin' right? Tyler

13.5 @ 101 eh? Did you cut a 1.8 60' on stock tires? Chances are you'd get beat fairly considerably as I've got you covered by .5 in ET and 9mph in trap (if that's even a legit time, but cruising this site has shown me that's probably not a legit time). My car is far from the fastest stock GTO on record, my ET is # 11 on the quickest stock GTO times on ls2gto.com.

I beg to differ. I just slapped some magnaflows and even took off the ressonator. It doesn't sound as loud as the factory set-up. I do feel just a bit more throttle response, but as far as sound, the factory exhaust on the LS2 is already loud. Having owned both the LS2 and the LSJ, the LSJ would need quite a bit of work to completely drown out the exhaust of the LS2. I'd say with at least a 2.7" pulley or a larger supercharger, that might be enough to drown out the LS2's exhaust.
Oh and another thing about the Cobalt SS SII and the GTO racing where the Cobalt pulls, did no one else notice that the Camera operator in the GTO pointed the camera forward the whole time as if he was staging for the Cobalt to pull ahead? Most of the race videos I've seen the camera man points the video out towards the car they're racing, not ahead flanked towards the other person's lane. Still seems staged to me.
Anyone who calls the stock exhaust on a GTO quiet needs a hearing test.
My Mustang with a off road H-Pipe and Flowmasters is the only car I had that was louder than my GTO. Hell I am still trying to figure out how the GTO passed the EPA drive by test. They failed the single outlet WS6 exhaust in 1999 and that was much quieter.
And whats with all of the hype about videos? Look how many make the SS/SC look like ****, the GTO videos are no different. For some reason only the bad ones see the light of day.

True, but its expected on a Corvette forum. Its known for being GM's top performing sports car (Cobalt? ehh..not so much), and yes a lot of people who think there Corvettes are the best and are snobbish.
I just love it when I read threads of nearly stock Cobalt SS/SC's beating 04-06 GTO's.
Yup, this was GM's plan, lets bring back the GTO, stuff 400hp in it for 35k. THEN, build a 4cyl for 20k that beats the GTO.....right
