yes. the newer Grand Prix GXP has a 5.3L displacement-on-demand V8. 303 hp and 325 tq. avaliable since '05 i think.
teh OP most likely ran into a modded supercharged GTP. they run 15 flat stock and take really well to mods like pullies, intake, etc

yes there is.. but for all we know he could have run a modded motor.. those v6's respond to mods well.. and the superchaged version is even more mod friendly.. but the auto tranny's are WEAK..

no he wasnt modded the guy behind me was ridding my ass so i was riding the grand prix ass and he got pissed and fallowed me on the highway and hes beside me and i punch it in 3rd and get a car on him than he slowly creeps on me , and this is like a 60 year old guy and it did not sound modded what so ever, not even loud supercharger noise

you wont be able to tell if its a modded GTP (supercharged v6). their blowers arent nearly as loud as ours even if pullied. a stock one would not be able to reel you in unless theres seriously something wrong with your SS/SC

me and my son test drove a grand prix gxp competion series. not for sure of the difference but i do know this one comes with all the bells and whistles from pontiac. paddle shifters in standard mode, that was what come up. shifts like a standard, and is faster that my sons srt4 with mods... i was impressed with it. there weren't very many ordered with the competion series. but i can tell you there is definately a big difference when you just leave it in the auto position, whose to know what it was that you raced but i would definately suggest that it wasn't the competion series. 2nd gear for instance was at 70 and still not wound out, 2 gear auto was about 40 and rpm's maxed out. must change ratio's somehow in the standard mode. all i know is if it was a competion series gxp congrats!!!

a grand prix can be really fast and do so very quietly. With just an intake I can see it reeling you in and passing you. Buying an ss/sc makes you quick not fast you need to mod your car to make it fast then mod some more to make it faster ie supercharger or turbo swap.

Gran Prix GTs run 15 flats.

The GTPs can run low 14's stock, but like the SS/SC most people have them in the mid 14s.

04 gtp comp g runs low 15s.. 00-03 runs about the same as a stock ss/sc....mid to low 14's

so it was modded.. my cousin has an 04 and you can barely here his blower nice kill none the less if you're saying it was a kill

The 5.3L is simply an LS1 with lower displacement. Can be modded EASILY

If it was a GTP you'd hear the blower.
