Try blowing, with your mouth, on a fan that is turned off and making the blade spin. Now try again using a can of compressed air. There has to be enough air flow to get the blade to spin.

Advantage in almost all respects other than packaging - Turbo

You need to do some reading about Turbo cars. A properly matched turbo to an engine will make power even at low rpm's. Look at the stock dyno graph of an SRT4. Unless you're racing at 1500rpm's it won't have a problem.
BTW - Do you know why the SS beats the SRT4 to 40mph? Because the SRT4 spins hard off the line
I know we are talking about turbos but hear the supercharger on this thing... wow

BTW - If the SRT4 spins hard off the line, then that would be a driver's fault not the cars. If I want I can and have kept my tires spinning through first and part of second, but if I want to accelerate I don't give it more throttle than the tires can handle. Considering these are people who test drive cars for a living and have done it numerous times, I would assume that they would know this and adjust accordingly. They also perform multiple runs and keep the best one.

If your trying to compare a turbo to a supercharger, a turbo wins hands down. Think of this, i'm crusing around 50mph in 5th and just mash the gas, I will still hit full boost even before I get past 23-2400 RPM. Although it is not good for the car.
And there is always sacrifices when dealing with "high" horsepower cars, mainly drivabality.

i get full boost at 3500rpm in 3rd gear. 5th gear it hits full boost around 2500. either way, when i want the most out of my car, i downshift.
if you want a lot of power down low, get a v8. i'll just keep the revs up.

People seem to be shooting for 400whp on the SRT4. That does take a bigger turbo but from what i've seen and read.. Lag isn't that much of a problem. You'll hit a full 23 psi around 3200rpm.
Lots of SRT4 guys have hit 300whp on the stock turbo.

WOW! these cobalt ss are fast. Was this WRX stock with just a catback or muffler. If so, then why bother racing it from a roll. If it had some type of reflash and TBE then from a 40 roll it would be a far better race. I have raced my buddies SRT-4 from a roll when it was stock and beat it everytime. When he had his cutout on I was dead even with him from a 15mph roll, but from a 40 roll he only put 3/4 to 1 car length on me. Of course my car was modded, which had a reflash and upipe and TBE. I'm still waiting my chance to go against a cobalt SS so see how fast it is.

I've raced two WRX's and beat both of them. One by about 1.5 lenghts, and the other by about 2. The first one started at 40mph, and the other at 70mph.
LOL @ From ROLL seriosuly...Why do you think drag racing is from the staging beams? I could never imagine going to a track and crusing to 25-30 and when ya get to staging lights just Punch it. Ya never never know someday when all the baby boomers grow up it may just be that way. There is Autocross for that ****.
Just my 2˘
cody is right. you are a ******* to race an AWD from a dig. To me, roll racing against an AWD car is very fair. If an AWD guy refuses to race from anything but a dig, you can say he is "cheating" like some think about racing one from a roll.

This 15 second car would still be as fast as 85% of the CobaltSS's an this board
I would think if you made a WRX front wheel drive it would be faster, less drive train loss!
