looking at the pic iboost posted, i'm definitely going with Nexen N3000's in 245/40/18. I like the look of the slightly bigger sidewall plus obviously having a wider tire. Can't wait til spring.

I wouldn't put Nexens on anything I own.

When I had my old SS/SC they had them on there and I never had a problem with them. What are your experiences with them?

Because I wanted to know why he is against using Nexen's. I want to know if there are anything wrong with them. I've had them before with no problems though so idk.

May *look* nice, but they are pinched with sidewalls bulging. This will also effect cornering ability (flex of sidewall). Also, will slow acceleration due to larger diameter.

Here is stock to compare...note compact sidewalls:

^note no lip protection due to falkens stretch design. The 512's and 615's are like this. But the 452's do have lip protection. The only thing I liked about the 512's was that they were LOUD. You'd have to have at least a 245 512 to make them look normal.

I agree on lip protection..just be careful when parking! As far as noise...the 512s have been very quiet! Man...if they are *noisy*...I can't wait to get the Sumitiomo HRTZ llls on my car!

I do admit they're bulged but I had no idea when I bought them. This was when any info on 245's on stockers were scarce.

I just got 4 of the BF Goodrich Gforce Super Sport AS(All season) 225/40zr-18 92w xl on my 07 ss/sc stock wheels. I just replaced the factory pzeros that were needless to say not snow worthy for Michigan.

These tires do prove to have a lot better traction than I expected. I been driving with them for the past 2.5 hours to test them out and for an all season tire im pretty impressed. The manufacturer of the tires actually has video of testing these tires in snow and on ice on bmws and such.

what suspension do you have?

I'm needing new tires and want a wider tire, but i have no clue how wide i can go. I have a SS/SC with stock 18's. I also have k-sport pro coilovers on it. What you guys suggest?

245's on a 7" wide wheel is a bad idea! I have 8.5" wide wheels, so 245's or 255's are a realistic option provided they don't rub.

235's max. I would stick with 225/40/18's on 7" wheels though.

You could safely run 275's on an 8.5'' wheel.

Why are you guys being such panzy's and being afraid to run wide tires? As proven by me, you can run 255's on a T/C wheel and Blazin has shown you can run a 275 Nitto on a S/C wheel. I wouldn't use Blazin's set up for autocross but it's great for going to car meets and some light street use.
