I'm shopping for 215/50/17 snow tires and got prices for Blizzak WS-70's and Kumho KW19's. The Blizzaks are ~$250 more for the set. (I'm
ian). For those of you who have used Blizzaks and other brands, which other brands/models have you tried and are they comparable? I'm open to recommendations. Thanks!

Using only 2 is a BAD idea! lol. If you use 2 on the front with cheaper ones on the back, the rear end will want to swing around on you under braking. 4 cheaper snow tires would be better than that. If you do only use 2, they should go on the back, even on FWD cars. That is a proven fact in tests.
i have these on my winter beater and they are great! cheap too, at only $123 per tire (for 215/50/17's)

i def want this brand of snow tires for the car but im only keep this car till the spring then im selling it. i just need it to get up hills that's all i need lol. its a 98 cavalier between the traction control and the snow tires on the front i figured that it would be good lol

I had a set of Mastercraft Glacier Grip IIs on my balt the only winter I drove it, ran like a BOSS, I've seen them on the web for around $115 each. in the size you want, and they're non directional making them easier to rotate

It's all about how you drive and what the conditions are like where you live. And yes, how much you wanna spend. Don't believe ANYONE that claims their All Seasons are as good as a snow tire. Snow tires are a whole different breed. Lateral grip is the biggest benefit. I've got Blizzaks but if that is more than you're willing to spend, and you drive in snow a lot, I would recommend getting a cheaper snow tire rather than switch to all-seasons. Bottom line: Summer tires are awesome in SUMMER, snow tires are awesome in the SNOW. All Seasons are pretty good in all conditions, but NEVER awesome. They're a compromise.

I had Blizzacks and they are great loved them ended up though going for a set of 4 GY nordics (crappy) on steelies that I got for $200 cuz I couldnt afford 2 more blizzacks. I actually have my 2 blizzacks for sale used only 1 winter asking 250 for the pair and they are in good shape. If your interested send me a PM shipping would be relativly cheap as I see your in canada too. they are the stock size 18" 215/45/18.
