Chevrolet Mags - defect covered under warranty???

hey guys,

Last weekend, I was washing my car and I noticed that the paint on my rear two mags (chevrolet mags) started to chip... the color under is a different shade of silver and you notice it quite a bit.

The car (Cobalt LT with 16" wheels) was leased on June 8, 2007... it is almost 1 year that i have it and only did 1 winter with them.

My father has the same model mags on his Chevrolet Equinox, 2 winters (2006) and they are spotless --> no problems...

My question is, is this considered a defect and the dealer should replace/fix them or its covered under warranty and the dealer will take care of it...

Let me know...
THX
Carlo
p.s. If you would like to see the defect, give me your email and I'll show you them...

Ok Ok... sorry guys... up here in Montreal, we call the rims mags ))

ok the rims that came with the car... stock 16"...

HatedCobalt --> why wouldn't it be considered as a defect... it clearly is, it's not rocks or rubbing which did that...!!!
Anyone encountered a similar problem?

the thing with warranty is if they can prove that something that u did (driving in winter) caused it to defect it..its ur fault. i know its stupid and dont blame me but i had a friend who had a broken crankshaft (on a stock engine) and they blamed it on his coilovers

Ok, but I can go with my father's Equinox which has identical rims/mags and he went through 2 winters already...
Moreover, if those mags/rims weren't meant for the winter, they should have told me or they should have given me summer tires on those tires which meant I would have had to buy wheels with winter tires for the car --> which makes a lot more sense...

PROBLEM IS, when the time comes for me to give back the car, i don't want them to throw this problem in my face and have to pay for this so called damage...
???

then go down and have them document it and if they dont want to warranty it because its not a defect then u have in writing that u tried to get it fixed and they said it wasnt a defect so u cant be held reliable for it

That salesman is going to send you right to the customer service desk. He has no say in whether a chip in a wheel gets warrantied, lol.

* UPDATE *
hey guys...

I went to see my salesman, he checked the mags, said it wasn't normal... then he brought me to the chief in charge of service and what not, told him what's happening, they both looked at the mags (rear mags). In brief, they will be calling me to notify me when they will take care of it and they will either repair the mags or replace them --> he wasn't sure about that.

So, so far great news!! GREAT AFTER-SALE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
