Disc Vs Drum!!!

We all know a lot of car drivers prefer disc brakes all around. For saving money I was looking at the base model, cuz the LT and LS will have the same results with turbocharging the engine...

How much better is having the 4 discs rather than 2 disc front and 2 drum back? besides apperance...
I have my 99 honda accord, it has this setup...the brakes are strong...except the front...I got to replace the pads...at 90k...I think they lasted a while...

You shouldn't notice a huge difference because at least 70-90% of the braking power comes from the front anyway.

I am no brake expert but most of the difference will come under heavy load and the ability of disc brakes to dispurse heat is far superior to that of a drum ..

EDIT: here is some more detailed reading for you

If you're going to be doing any heavy braking, like on a road course or something of that nature, you've got to have 4 disc. Rear drums just aren't going to cut it.

plus drums are such a pain to do a brake job on. disks are so much faster.

Depends on the car. My race civic did fine with drums but I liked it light in the rear so it worked out well. My miata had rear discs and I used a prop valve to adjust them so I could brake way late. Discs are not always necessary but they are definitely better.

The SS and the LS have two totaly diferant braking systems.
My cavy had drum rears and I never had a problem.
But I would prefer disks my self.

As far as track use, you need the brake discs. They offer more stopping power and better cooling.

The SS models use different rotors and a high-performance brake pad. They are superior in every way to the non-SS model front rotor/rear drumb set-up.
