On July 14, 2006 I sent this email to King at Enkei:

"Hi King,

My inquiry was in reference to someone from CobaltSS.net who had contacted you about setting up a group buy for the RPF1 with a 5x110 bolt pattern for the Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged. I am interested in size 18x8 with the Super Bright Coating finish. Do you or your company have an idea when you might be able to produce a run of these wheels for us?

Thanks again.
Jeff "

Today, October 19, 2006, he sent me this response:

"Did a set call me 800-xxx-xxxx ext xxx"

wtf?

yeah, i'll probably call to see what's up but i don't think there's any way i'd be able to get them. that and they won't go with the overall look of my car anymore.

I got the email too today .

In short , he cannot get them to budge . They will not tool any new bolt patterns for the RPF1 wheel period . He did tell me though the 5-110 will be included in some newer wheel series coming out though .

He did go the extra mile for us though . He gave me the name and # of the guy who did the 18x7.5 SBC RPF1 wheels for the Pontiac sponsored Sema g5 GT show car . He took a 18x7.5 wheels with a 48mm offset that was 5-114 , drilled the center and re-inserted it with the 5-110 bolt circle . The weight of this wheel 17 lbs . He said they turned out completely flawless and sit perfect on the car and this guy would able to drill and insert the RFP1's for us . The owner of the Pontiac Sema car is actually a Enkei empleyee . For those curious a 18x7.5 wheel with 48mm sits the wheel in the same relation to the outer fender lip as the stock wheel , and u lose .47" of clearence on the inside lip . The Pontiac show car has a 225/45r18 tire with no fitament issues at all .

For those who are really serious about buying a set of drilled and inserted RPF1's , PM me and I will pass along the name and # . I dont want to post it in here and have this companies phone ringing off the hook .

I don't care who makes them, but the first company to make lightweight 17 x 8's get's my credit card number! Performace outweights the look in my book, so they could be pink for all I care.

Kim Bong was my contact at Rota. I'd still be in for either size on a couple different styles if people are interested. It may be harder to setup the deal for me right now because I am deployed overseas.

i say we start another group buy on the rotas soon because i will definately need a set this spring... looks like rota is the only company thats willing to help us out so far so there getting my business for sure if we do another group buy!!

You know, this is getting ridiculus. I don't know how many numbers I have called looking for a decent set of light weight wheels. Of course there is plenty of real good tire styles but we really could use more wheels choices. I'll just stick with my stock wheels, they look good enough. Get some GFG Goodwrench KDW II's all around and or for the track drag radials. IMO the lack of after market is really putting a hurting on us.

Any way any of us can get a set for the same price? Even though that group buy is over. I'm sure they did not scrap the mold....*crosses fingers* I would like to see a pic of them installed on a cobalt too first.

I also love this wheel but its not worth the cost IMO
Enkei refuses to do the RPF1 period in a 5x110 . I worked with the rep for almost 2 months and he couldnt get them to budge . The flat out refuse to make the RPF1 in any new sizes or bolt patterns than whats currently available .

Most of the cup cars and the ToA SS use the RPF1 . But the wheels are custom . Enkei does not offer the RPF1 in a 5-110 currently . But that could change , as early as this summer . This wheel is pure sex IMO , and looks perfect on the SS . A 17x8 weighs only 15.6 lbs , 18x7.5 = 17.0 lbs and a 18x8 weighs 17.8 lbs . It comes in the 3 finishes listed below , Hyper Silver , SBC ( polished like coating with a dark shadow effect = lightweight ) and Gold . The Enkei rep also mentioned Black and Bronze could be a possibility . This thread is to generate interest for this particular wheel . Please keep your replies clean as it will viewed by Enkei . And lastly Im not asking your opinion of this wheel , I could care less if you hate or dislike it . I want people who like this wheel enough to actually buy it , post here . Post your desired size and desired finish , offset preferences with wider wheels ect ect . As with most things in the car world , the good stuff is typically a little more cash . These arent knock offs of a another brand . From prices around the net they seem to typically run $270 to $300 per wheel . This isnt a thread about a group purchase or actually making a finacial commitment , just purely to see if theres interest .

Gold
I'm loving those along with these

I'd love some bronze rims like that, in 18's of course. Probably 7.5 width

That is how all GM show cars that use them are , re-drilled 5x114's .....if I remember right . The Time of Attack car and all the Grand Am Cup Cobalts run 99-04 Grand Am hubs , so the 5x110 doesnt apply to them .
