Goodyear Eagle gt
Goodyear Eagle gt
I had these put on my G5GT last month, to replace the stock Pirelli P6's. My wheels are 17's, but the tire design should be similar to your 16's or 18's. I bought them from a local Goodyear dealer, and the final bill came to $600 including the tires, mounting, balancing, old tire disposal, etc. The tread design has wide channels (probably to handle large amounts of water) and I sometimes pick up rocks large enough that I can hear them hit the fender liner. The tires have a large lip where it mounts to your rim that is supposed to help prevent curb rash or rim damage if you get a flat. They handle great for me, but I can't really say how well they handle when driven aggressively. I don't drive my car very hard. The road noise is similar to my stock Pirelli's. I have noticed that they are noisy if the road is in very poor shape, but I can't hear them at all if the road is smooth.
I have some pictures on the G5 site if you want to see them.

I just noticed.... Those 15's are almost half the price of the 17's!

what? ugh, i hate these tires. To y'all that think Goodyear makes a nice tire; you just have never had decent tires before!!
Goodyear tires (as a whole, they all exhibit these characteristics)
wear poorly
are NOISY NOISY NOISY.. OMG DID I SAY NOISY???
are known for breaking belts frequently
ride badly/clunky feeling
At our family shop, we DO NOT sell goodyears... we cannot afford to warranty them!! (belt-breaking issues) Overpriced, cheaply made tires. very very poor overall.
If you want my opinion, as a service advisor.. this is what our cars are rollin' on..
My last set of tires on the balt:
BFGoodrich G-force sport (bang for your buck, last forever, excellent grip and performance)
Current tires:
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 (cannot express my love for these tires enough!!!)
Our other cars run mostly Michelin tires, The Audi and Jetta run Michelin MXV4's, the trucks run Mich Cross-terrains.
Our shop truck and spare cars all run Toyo's.
Toyo Proxes IV will outperform these Goodyears and cost much less. look into those.
UPDATE:
A regular customer came in with his Jeep Wrangler today, having problems with tire vibration. Come to find out he only has 5k miles on his set of Goodyear Wranglers and EVERY TIRE has at least one broken belt in it. This is RIDICULOUS, and DANGEROUS!!!

09WhiteSS...Tirerack reviewed them in May 08, so I'm pretty sure they probably came out earlier than fall 08...probably more like July...I don't think they get tires to review 4+ months before actual release...point is, so what if it hasn't been a full year...he is stating he has them.
Anyway, I see mixed reviews overall, but when compared to stock 15" conti's on the LS, they are far better correct? I mean my Conti's are just crap and I'm looking replacing them with one of the following:
BF Goodrich G-force Sport
Sumitomo HTR 200
Goodyear Eagle GT
Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
I'm looking at 205/60 15's as I'll just be putting them on my stock steelies.
I have winter wheels/tires so I won't need all-seasons, but the Eagle GT and Potenza RE960AS Pole Position's both seem like good tires overall.

Just got these on Thursday for my SS/TC and holy **** they are a lot better then the conti's i went from 225 to 235 and i have way better dry traction, also when it comes to cornering conti's cant come close. I got these because of the ratings and it is only really hot here in Oregon like a month out of the year so i needed tires that stick. Also the road noise went down drasticlly!!! I would def recommend these. Ohh and you can't beat the wear ratings over summer tires!!
I have bf goodrich g force sports on my cobalt right now and while they need replacing soon they have 32000 miles on them...this is awesome compared to the 15k i got out of the pirellis (one set stock rossos and a set of neros)...i drive like a crazy person too...i definately recommend them but the only thing that i was a little dissapointed in was the wet traction and the cornering, thats not to say they are bad at either though.
