Goodyear Eagle Gt's
I was debating between those and Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions. I went with the Bridgestone's and they are wonderful tires.
They don't have the great looking tread that the Eagle GT's have, but they definitely handle well (especially in rain, which was my main concern).
I also went from 195/60 to 205/60. The ride is so much nicer with that little extra sidewall and the wheel well gap is even less now (I'm on Sportlines with stock FE1 struts/shocks).

I've had Eagle GT's on my G5GT for the last 6000 miles, and I have not had any problems. The only thing I noticed is that the grooves in the tread are larger and pick up larger rocks on the road (especially on gravel roads and gravel driveways.) The make a hideous sound when they fly off of the tire and hit the inside of the fender.

just an update .... i love my goodyear eagle gt's !! they are such a nice tire and grip so much better than the pirelli p-zero neros and p-zero rossos i have had in the past.
How much did they cost you? When I got mine, I thought they were a bit pricey, but at least they are made in the USA. The total bill for me was $600, but I have the "you get what you paid for" mentality.
And MI roads suck just as much probably.

eagle gt's are a good tire.
slightly less of a performance in wet as KDW2's, but almost right there with the KDW in every other category, and providing something the KDW does not(snow traction).

Thats the reason i was looking at them.....this thread has made up my mind....225/45/18's for 129 @ tirerack sounds like pretty good deal. My nerves were getting to me with the KDW's the past 2 winters. Plus road noise has gotten too much for me but they got about 30k+ while not taking it easy on them.
i feel ya. it only snows maybe 3-4x a year in portland, typically lasting maybe a few hours to a couple days. and somehow i'm always caught out driving when it hits. the moment the snow makes the road unseen the havoc begins LOL. nothing like getting passed by kia's on 165's LOL.
About the same here....it'll snow 6"+ maybe 2-3 times with a half a dozen 3-4" days. The KDW2's did fine except for stopping....had to be extremely carefull workin the clutch/brake.

after doing some research and posting this thread I have decided to go with the eagle gt's...my next question is how wide of a tire can I go with the ls steelies? stock size is 195-60-15, i have put wider than stock tires on other factory rims before but the shop that i usually get my tires from won't put any other size on. i have called a couple of the other shops and they say the same thing... any help?
have them as well. preferred the rs-a's i had on it before for grip comparing new to new. but since they have a 50,000 mile tread life they should last a lil longer then 13000 miles i got out of the rs-a's on my lt lol
