I just had a set installed this past weekend, i don't auto X but i do hit up the local drag strip every now and then. From what i can tell on the street i don't think there is a tire out there that can beat this value/performance ratio. I was running Falken ziex ze 612(dtd house special ) and before that Kumho Ecsta SPTs.

I don't push my car to the limit but I didn't notice a huge diff between stock conti's and the michelin pilot ss. Got 50,000km out of the Pilots and 40,000km out of the stock conti's.

So you're saying the UHP1 you have currently you can get 50,000km for roughly $85 a tire? And there is free shipping?

I'm all in if I can get a set of 4 tires for under $500 seeing as I spent around $1200 for the super sports from the local tire guy here.

What do you think about stock cinti's vs UHP1's?

Update, price for me was $560, would have to pay for install on top of that. Still not a bad option if they will get 40,000-50,000km. Might consider cause I'm in need of new tires.

Well, again, both those tires SHOULD far outperform these. If you don't push the car hard a lot on those tires you probably won't notice any difference. Since my car had some Fuzion tires on it when I bought it I wouldnt know what stock contis felt like. On a racetrack? Contis or pilot ss will probably dominate. Daily driving with a bit of fun? These are great, and they are really good in the rain. No go in the snow though.

If money allows I'll be looking to by pilot super sports next time around.

I've got to say thanks for the info and continued review of the tires in this thread. I too was in the market to replace all four corners but needed a cheap alternative. The guy at discount recommended these as they meet the specs set for the Ss/TC. I went for it and they are being installed now. $416 out the door and installed.

Thanks again for the info as it have me confidence in the purchase of these!

Nice! Hope they work well for you.

Quick/halfass update -- tires are still good, car just rolled over 100k but the tires probably have another 6 months in them. I have 17x9s ordered now for autocross and track use so these will just be daily driven for the rest of their lives.

I did notice that, now that I have beat on them ALOT, the sidewalls feel like they have become softer and less responsive. At the last autocross (number 7!! on these tires) which was a :52 - 1:00 lap the tires were rolling over (almost to the rim according to bystanders) even with 36psi front and 40psi rear. Since I have new wheels coming soon I'll just race my friends STC Cavalier until the wheels come in. Putting some FREE!! 245/40/18 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs on the 17x9s with about half tread until I can get a set of 255/40/17 Z2's.

CRSCCA.org • View topic - 17x9s ordered - Now I need to pick some tires...

I'll update this again when the GT-Radials die. I'm on the wear bars but they are still fantastic in the rain!

I had these tires that came on a set of wheels I traded for. Was really impressed with the wet traction and lack of hydroplaning. Also performed very well at the few Auto X events I did last year. If I don't get these used Hankook Evo V12s from the classifieds I will probably snag up another set of these from Discount Tire Direct. Only $328 with free shipping. Here's a vid of me running these tires at my last Auto X last year.

they are 17" tires, good catch though. My brain, it doesn't always do what I want it to.

Couple hundred mile update
Pros good grip wot in first and it will almost stick even had to fight some wheel hop at the strip can get to .92 on the g meter before they progressively give way
Great wet traction when new
Cons noisy as hell and pretty choppy on a bumpy freeway at speed especially over 35 psi

All in all so far a great tire for less than $350 a set out the door

Not the best 60ft,but im not the best driver, i went from constant 2.3-2.4 with occasional high 2.2s to consistent 2.1 60s. I want to stock pile these tires, by far the fest bang for buck thing i've ever done to my car. right lane.

Were the tires noisy to a point where they became intolerable? how would you describe them? I've had my fair share of noisy tires, and if they are that bad, I may skip these and pick up the Nitto Neogen instead. I'm looking to purchase in the next week or so. Any feedback is much appreciated!
