Help on winter tires/ drag radials
I'm gonna apologize in advanced. I don't know **** about tires and all that.
I'm in need of some winter tires. I'm also in need of some drag radials or something for the summer. My plan is to buy a set of OZ Ultraleggeras from Tire Rack and have them come with winter tires mounted on two and then drag radials mounted on the other two. I was going to take the winter tires from the OZs and put them on my front stock wheels and put stock tires on two of the OZs so that for the winter I'll have stocks rims with winter tires up front and stock tires on the back and for the summer I'll have the Ultraleggeras with drag radials up front and stock tires on the back.
Any input? Let me know if this is a bad idea or not.
Also, can you guys suggest some winter tires that'll fit on the stock SS/TC wheels and the Ultraleggeras? Can you also suggest some good drag radials or good tires for the summer?
I obviously don't know jack about tires. Haha. Sorry again.

you really dont know anything about winter driving... Winters on ALL FOUR corners.
sure your front end may stop and be in control, the rear of your car will not.
remember, your tires are the ONLY part of your car making contact with the road.

He hit the nail on the head there^^^
Also, get Blizzak LM60's. My brother put them on some Sport Editions for his 09 SS and they're working great for him...

I mean.. my stock tires only have like 3k on them so they'll still be bad for the winter even if they're only on the rear?
What about just running the Ultraleggeras with drag radials on the front and stocks on the back? That should be okay, right?

tire rack is good. they'd have yelled at this person if they only ordered 2 winter tires. also depending how much snow you get there your better off getting a narrower tire

I know I don't know about it. That's why I said that in my post and asked for help. Haha

i would go with four winter tires. with just two up front the back end will swing around on snowy days. I have blizzak LM-60's they are fairly new (i think new this year) I haven't had them through the snow yet but so far in freezing cold, some ice, and rain they seem to hold up pretty good. the WS-60 have good reviews and a lot of miles on them through tire rack and those are what i ordered but Just Tires messed up and ordered me the LM-60, but i have no complaints as of yet.

Alright. I'm just gonna order up 4 winter tires and the Ultraleggeras along with 2 drag radials, then. I was just trying to see if I could save some money, ya know?

the blizzaks id recommend would be the lm25v. they have a stiff side wall and are v speed rated and will plow through whatever snow is thrown at them. when the roads are dry i still like to have fun. i ve tried the other blizzaks mentioned and found them to unpredictable in spirited driving on nice days.
