How much performance difference do you get from lighter or heavier wheels?

I was wondering for those of you who have changed your wheels to either a heavier or a lighter option, how much of an impact on performance has it made?

Theres a huge scientific reason I've seen on here but it boils down to less mass/less weight to rotate simply makes it easier and faster. A couple lbs is not huge but a few lbs difference per tire can make a big difference. Cornering seems a bit more nible with lighter wheels..... It's minimal but a good driver can tell. Ya gotta also consider wether it's 3 piece forged or alloy....etc light and strong is the way to go..... IF you can afford it :P

Actually, just a few pounds shaved off of unsprung weight makes an enormous difference, in traction, acceleration, handling, ride quality, (most importantly?) braking, etc. I'd say getting lighter wheels is one of the more noticeable mods.

WTF dude?? I wasn't arguing with you, relax. The "actually" was in response to: "It's minimal but a good driver can tell." Some of you guys are so damn touchy.

WTF back. You took a light-hearted crack at pointing out that you basically copy and pasted my text to sound smarter than me or something and then thow out a WTF and that I'm touchy. Chill pill much :P It's all good. Either way I think we're both right but I'm cooler bc I said it first LOL I might get a set of the MSR 45's for 21 lbs each........but I want a forged set of something around 17-18. I'm willing to pay since I'll be deploying soon again and I'll make some bankage! I'm gonna order a "semi-slick" high performance tire that I've found and reviewed stellar. Light wheels and semi-slick DD tires with my mods I'm looking high to mid 12's. ????

Actually, I think you should order a "semi-slick" high performance tire that you've found and reviewed stellar.

WTF.

Unsprung weight improvements will give a tremendous performance increase and larger diameter wheels usually weigh more than smaller rims, even though it seems that less tire weight from smaller sidewalls would equal it out, it does not.
