Just bought winter rims...good snow tires for SC?

I just won a set of brand new 16" Chevy HHR alloy wheels on ebay for $102.50 and i'm looking for snow tire advice. the two main choices i have so far are the Dunlop Graspic DS-2's and there is a set of continentals contiwintercontact TS790's. I'm not looking to spend more that $100 per tire and i know the michelin and the blizzak are better tires, i just want to know which is better of the two that i am choosing? Or if you have any other ideas in that price range, let me know. And i already ordered a set of hub centric rings for the rims since the HHR has a larger hub bore than the cobalt.

Thanks.

I'm also looking for snow tires for 16" wheels so answers would be appreciated. I'm also wondering how big and wide the snow tires should be on the Cobalt, on the SS/SC trim. Is that up to preference or is there a set formula I should be following?

I bought the rims for $102.50 and the shipping is where the seller makes up the price. Shipping is $109 with insurance UPS ground from georgia to massachusetts.

as far as tire size, I'm running a 215/55/16 because it will fit the HHR rim width and is really close to the O.D. of the stock SC wheels and tires.

Just a question.... I got 4 Goodyear Nordic's (205/55-16) and Im getting 16 inch steel rims (5x110) bolt pattern. Any universal rim thats a 5x110 bolt pattern will work correct?

Of your two choices, I would go with the ContiWinterContacts, I've heard good things about them. Also, I would HIGHLY recommend going with 205/60-16s instead of the 215/55-16s. For winter tires, narrower is better...you get better snow traction and you're less likely to slide than on a wider tire.

firesting - If you're talking steelies then yeah, they probably should fit. Depending on the wheel, some people come extremely close to having fitment issues with other 16s (non-steelies). But if you get steelies from GM or TireRack then they should work on the car no matter what.

thats the setup i have.
they come close to your brakes, but not close enough to be a problem

Btw the closest match to our stock rubber is the 60/16, not the 55/16.....

Thanks for the input on the tire size. I just found a set of Michelin X-ice in that 205/60/16 size for $87 each! looks like i have my choice.

I had blizzacks and love them, but I would go with the michelin X-ice. This winter I bought federal himalaya and to be honest, they are just as good as the bridgestone and are way cheaper, chek it out!

Yup, same bolt pattern. And i'm really not sure, but i think that the HHR has the same center bore as our cars...can anyone confirm this?
