Need help, rusting wheel thing......

K as a disclaimer I do not know JACK about cars, so I require some slack in terminology.

Right, so I have a 08 cobalt lt sedan, all good. My rear wheel thing is rusty as HELL. By wheel thing I am refering to where the tire/rim gets bolted to, I do not know if this is called the drum or what. All I know is that it is nothing like the front, with the caliper and smothe shiny metal thing that it applied contact/friction to, to brake the car.

I intend to get a rim and tire package after I sue this company who I shall not name unless asked, because i ordered rims/tires and for one he was not able to get them, and now he wont refund my money, but thats a issue by itself. When I do get rims, I REALLLY do not want the rusty thing... to be showing and it will completely destroy the entire idea of putting on nice rims to make the car look nice. PLEASE help me i realllly need it. Thanks Guys and Ladies!

Looks like the rotor?

Mine looked horrible before I took the car in to get them painted.
Painted them black.

Yeah, its the rear drum. The drums get rusty pretty quick since all the friction for the pads are on the interior of the drum rather than the outside.

Pretty easy to fix that issue. Jack it up, take off the lock washers (If present), pound like hell on the drum to release it, then take a good sander to the drum to bring it back to the bare metal, then paint it.

rusting on drums is very common. It's nothing to worry about. it's vibration and noise that is cause for concern. Those are usually tell tale signs that you need to get them serviced.

convert to four disc brakes then, but either way you're still gonna get rusting

I know rust will be around, by mine is 10x worse then the pic showing, it almost looks like a Ferrari brake disk when its hot red. I am thinking of converting it to 4 disk....
