Need Help W/ My Winter Wheels!
Need Help W/ My Winter Wheels!
A couple days ago I posted about my new wheels and tires. Well I've noticed when I cut the wheel all the way left or right, I hear what sounds like metal grinding. I pulled in the in the garage and took a look, and the wheel (not the tire) just below the bead rubs on the strut when its turned all the way. It's cuting up the wheel a bit. Granted it only happens when you turn the wheel all the way but I bought this setup from Tirerack.com understanding it would fit. Has anyone else noticed this problem? The wheels are Sport Edition CD's which are 16 x 7.5".... the stock 17" (being a little taller) would turn over the top of this bracket like area on the strut..I don't know if 16 x 7" would be any different. I just wanted some other opinions before I call up tirerack.
The camera's upside down, but here you can see where the strut bracket is cutting a groove in the wheel

After further inspection, this was only happening to the driver side wheel. That groove is less than a mm deep. And it looks like the cause was actually a small bump (likely casting flaw) in the bracket on the strut. So I ground the bumb off and all is good again.
