Offset Question
Offset Question
Stock SS/SC 18x7" wheel offset is 42mm. I am going to 17x8" wheels. What offset am I going to need?
I used an offset calculator and at 42mm with the 8" ther is a .5" increase on each side.
With a 40mm offset, the wheel got pushed out toward the fender further, and with a 38 mm offset even more. Sort of confused because these wheels will be a special one time cut, and I want to get it straight! HELP ME please!!!

38mm will be fine. our cars will fit probably close to 30mm offset with no problem.
i took some measurements the other day with a yard stick across the face of the wheel and up into the fender, then measured from the yard stick to the fender.
i don't like our stock wheels because they're tucked in too much. i like it when the wheels are almost flush with the fenders.

The lowest I would probably go on mine is 38 mm . Thats gonna stick the wheels out .670" more , and losing 9 mm on the inside . The fronts I wouldnt be worried about , but I think thats cutting it close on the rear as the rear wheels seems to sit further out than the fronts . 42mm will stick them out about an even 1/2 " . I will bring a yard stick and my digi calipers to the dragstrip tomorrow and see where exactly that comes out . Im still just visualizing at this point .
I want these wheels right too
Thanks for the input GSoccer24 .
The one possible issue I did see with a 35-38 mm offset on the fronts is a bracket mounted to the shock for a diagonal link . More with us going down a inch to a 17 . I didnt have my calipers handy to measure exactly , but it looks like about 20mm clearence between the stock wheel lip and this bracket . Of course though , it looks like if needed , it could be ground down a bit without effecting anything . Just a thought . I will try to get an exact measuremnt on that tomorrow too .
