Painted my stock 18
well since when a wheel is polished it looks like garbage, i decided to paint it. The spokes are gunmetal and the holes are black, heres some pics.

looks good.
pics dont show the contrast between the black to well. but looks like it turned out nicely.
question....did you strip the area you painted? or scuff and just paint over it?
what was your method?

the entire wheel was stripped and then i tried to polish it but it looked like crap, so i painted the entire wheel gunmetal. That looked good. then i got the idea to do this.

ahhhh nicely done. your gunmetal looks perfect.
Ive had thoughts of doing this myself for a while now.
i havent looked to hard...but did you have to strip the entire rim inside and out?
or just the holes and spokes?
did you clearcoat?

I just stripped the holes and spokes. I did clearcoat. this is just a spare wheel i had laying around. My idea was to do this as a mock up and then take it to a powder coat shop and get the price to do it in that. well, he wants $150 a wheel, screw that. But if you really wanted to do this right i would strip the inside of the wheel and just paint it gunmetal and then do the holes and clear everything.

depends on if i can find some winter steelies, then ill have lots of time with them off the car to work with it.
