Rial Nogaro Wheels and steering wheel shaking
I hate to bring this topic back from the dead but guess what? I got 3 new tires and the steering wheel is still shaking at freeway speeds. The one tire that was kept was the drivers side front and it passed the road force test. I moved that to the back and the steering wheel seems to shake and vibrate a little less at lower speeds. Could the one bad tire in the rear cause the steering wheel to shake at 70mph? Could the tire be rubbing on something? I read around the forum before I bought the 235/40/18s and found that people run them with no problems.
I just got back from a test drive. I put the stock wheels back on and the problem went away. I also tried the stocks on front and nogaros in the rear. I noticed a little bit of vibration in the wheel but it might have been the road, it was nothing obvious. I am not sure if the tire is rubbing against anything and It looks like the tires have lots of clearance and I can even fit my hands into the tight spots when the wheel is turned. It seems extremely unlikely that the new tires I got were deformed as well. The wheels have been tested too and they are true. This damn problem is soo annoying! Could it be the electric steering system?

heres what u do, put on the 3 new tires, and put on one stock rim and tire, and see if the vibration is gone..... also, if it was rubbing u would hear it, and u would see marks on ur tire.
If the rim is out of round, then the tire is going to fail the road force test. take it to a chevy dealer with a decent balancing machine. They can actually tell you if the rim is out of round.
I took it to a chevy dealership and they checked all the rims and they were round. They said the tires were defective though. Come Monday I will get back to trying to figure out this problem , in the meantime I will be driving my other toy since spring has finally arrived, enjoy the pics:

It was a lot easier to make the 315/35/17s fit on the rear of my Formula. I just took a big ass hammer to the inside of the wheel wells and everything fit fine. The wheels are ZR1s 17x11 rear 17x9.5 front. I have a couple of bolt ons installed too.

Nice formy ....hammer tubbing ftw
Did you have to cut the pinion snubber off too .?..Ive always had to do that with 17x11's with a 50 mm offset .
I think my next step would be skipping the vendor and contacting goodyear directly and try to determain if they possibly have run a bad batch of tires . You may have alot of luck with Tire Rack too trying to get to the root of the problem . There should be julian dates cast into the tire so they can tell when it was made .

Also, I still have the steering wheel problem after place each nogaro alone on the car with all stock wheels. I am going to try a few more things. Once I finally figure out this damn problem I will let every one know what the hell was wrong.
Update for those who wanted to know what the problem was. The new goodyear tires I got were all defective after getting a road force test, that makes 7 bad tires in total I received. The dealership that I had them tested at said these tires were junk and one of them was 39lbs out of balance on the road force balancer. I think goodyear had a bad manufacturing run for some of these tires. I had the wheels tested too and they were in good condition and had no defects.
Again, thanks for everyone's help. I am still surprised that 7 bad tires could find their way to me.
