See Through Tires

I found and thought I would share the knowledge.

The See-through Tires:

Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.[/
CENTER]

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.
This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:
a... no more air valves
a... no more air compressors at gas stations
a... no more repair kits

SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin. It will be awhile before they are available to the automotive industry.

They dont seem really reliable and if there is a way to improve the looks a little that wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Why dont they just give them a sidewall? That's what I really dont like about them

they ride bad and they are known to break down after a period of time... they tried to come out with them a few year ago, but were unsuccessful

i thought that was introduced as a "run flat" tire so if you popped a tire the car wouldnt run off the road. Am i wrong?

guys, I'm sure they'll have sidewalls, I'm thinking it was just to show off the technology haha.

well with some of the new nano fibers they are working on they would be able to do that with a hard form of rubber... down side is the ride will be much rougher. But for the auto X'ers here.... there should be a grip gain cause the tires wont roll... I am sure they will be promptly banned :P
