tire rotation

ok guys i still run the pirelli rossos on my ss and i had rotated them like the manual said. two rear tires crossed into front, front two straight back. right after doing that i punctured one of my sidewalls on the front right tire, which was just the left rear. i bought a new tire and replaced it back to the same spot. now it pulls like a mother to the right. are these tires directional or what? i put the tire on the same way the other one was, so its on the way its supposed to be

Shouldn't be directional. If it was, it would have an arrow pointing in the direction it should be on the sidewall.

Possibly it's the new tread? It grips harder on one side, so it feels like it's pulling to that side...

its probably because the two front tires are different diameters due to one having wear while the other is new. its usually best to buy 2 tires than just 1.

make sure that the people who did the tire balanced the tire properly. IMO depending on how much milage is on the car, you may just think about getting 3 more tires and an alignment.

DEF NOT mileage is only 15k. i thought about the added traction but with the amount of miles i dont think it could be enough to pull much if any. i am going to check the tire pressure again. and there are no directional arrows, so wtf, lol

with that low a profile tire, sure it can cause a pull, as long as you didnt hit anything, you shouldnt need an alignment. easy way to tell is rotate the tires across. If it pulls left, you know its a tire issue

thats the latest peice of advise i was given, i am going to try it tomorrow. just now i checked all tires pressure wise and made sure they were all at 32 lbs each exactly. some were off a few pounds but nothing major, we shall see on the ride home from work. if its not fixed tomorrow i will throw it on the other side. outside of that i guess i will have the alignment checked, but it wasnt like this before the tire swap so i dont think thats what it is. someone made a comment about the balance, usually you get some vibration with a bad balance and i have zero. rides smooth as ever, just pulls, and harder with more acceleration

If you have 15k on the tires and you just put one brand new tire on the car it is going to pull like crazy. You need to get another tire to put on the other side so the tread matches. 15K on the stock Pirellis and you have used more then half the tread already. The stock Pirelli's typically only last 20K - 30K miles if you drive easy and less if you drive agressively.

First off, don't buy Rosso's when tires that are just as good cost far less. Lesson learned.

Second, get them rebalanced. I had the same problem and they were out of balance. If you get a wobble at low or high speeds they are definitely out of balance.

i dont have wobble or vibration like i said, so it should not be a balance issue. also, the tires with 15k on them are not even close to 50 percent worn. if you only got 20k out of any tire something was wrong. as far as not buying a rosso i am not about to run around with different tires on ****, lol. i spent the extra, which did suck, but in the spring i plan on getting a set of wheels tires anyway

Tires that are outta balance shouldnt cause the car to pull.If it was out of balance you would get a vibration at highway speeds.Your best bet would be to replace the tire on the other side.

thank you, like i have been saying there is no vibration. i am not replacing the other tire because i am going to try to get a set of wheels and tires in the summer, what i may do is stick it on the rear. should make a big difference in the pulling

i agree, stick it on the rear, as stated above, new tire, larger diameter, old tire smaller diameter. Take small wheels of differant diameters, and spin them at the same speed, i promise the taller wheel will move further. Causing a pull.

Look I am trying to help you and if you are not smart enough to see that then I guess I am wasting my time. Let's try this again:

The Pirelli's are UTQG 200 tires which equates to a 20K mile tire. If you are lucky and drive easy you maybe able to get 30K or so out of tires but no more. I have to replace my tires and I have 30K on them right now. They have never been abused, never been spun except for a few chirps and never been driven at high speeds. On my old car I didn't change the tires until 100K miles. So don't tell me there is anything wrong with my driving. Just because you can't tell by looking, trust me the tires are probably about 50% worn. Now if you wish to continue driving with one new tire and 3 worn tires then you are the one damaging your car and damaging your other 3 tires.

what you were wasting your time with was being a smart ass with me. if you cant see what i was saying basically agreed with what you were telling me, but added the fact that because the tires were had such a difference i had only put that tire on there to get me to warmer weather, when i could get a set of rims and tires, i guess i am wasting my time. some people may be being sarcastic and you cant tell by reading type, so think about that before you start being a tough guy with people. and never anywhere in my post did i comment on your driving, so keep stuff like that in mind before you work up the nerve to insult someones intelligence. especially since i am very appreciative of any help i get

While the tires aren't directional, they ARE assymetrical........meaning they have an inside and an outside, and they must be mounted accordingly. Having one mounted wrong could possibly cause a pull to one side.

^^^ generally no, it will cause the car to not have any wet traction though...
