Spacers...

Had a quick question. A few guys from around here were talking about wheel spacers. I've always been told they aren't very safe. But everyone I talk to say to run 5mm spacers to be able to use the ss/sc wheels on my ss/tc and even to run the 5mm to space out the TC wheels in the summer. If I did get a pair to run the ss/sc wheels I have been looking at the set of 5mm spacers from CED.com ( http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P9125C542.aspx ) Any opinions on how safe a 5mm spacer would be... Thanks. I've read a few threads before but havent found what I have been looking for

idk for sure but you may be able to even use a 3mm to be safer but theres alot of ppl who use them. maybe get longer studs or lug nuts?

I know 5mm is the biggest you can go with all stock studs and lugs. I guess either 3 or 5mm would work.. Thanks!

Just got my spacers in the mail. I ordered 5mm from cde.com but on the spacers they say 6mm. I put them on and I think I only got 4 turns maybe a little bit more. Im running these on the stock TC wheels/stock studs right now. Safe or send them back?

If you don't want to send them back, just get some longer studs.

$112 for longer studs isn't looking too good right now lol. Ill prob just end up sending them back if they can't work with stock studs.

Well in that case, send em back haha. The general consensus is that 5mm is the limit on stock studs as you've said. I wouldn't take a chance on anything larger than that.

or just take them to a machine shop and have em milled down. i talked to a guy at CED (i forget his name off the top of my head) but i talked to him on the phone and he said they ring out to be closer to 6MM. i bought the same ones but have been super lazy and havent put them on yet. im running IRL wheels.

havent checked into a machine shop yet for the spacers to get milled down. but when i do i can let you know how much it costs for the spacers to get shaved down.

Tom at CDE is being really helpful and told me he would take them back for a full refund and pay me for shipping back. Guess I'll just wait and get the extended studs and run 8mm like I wanted to do from the beginning.. I was thinking about the machine shop but im not really that worried about them right now. Give me more money for my intercooler lol
