I want to keep my stock tire size of 225/40 for better traction in rain and snow, but I noticed Tire Rack recommends 8" wide rims for that size tire. Would it be worth upgrading from stock 7.5 width rims up to 8?

 

not an expert, but im gonna say its not worth it...

 

all the 225/40's ive looked at fit a rim width range of 7-8.5" you're fine with them on the 7.5.

 

I have 235/40 Conti Extreme DWS's on the stock 7.5"wheels and they are fine. You don't need to go 8" for the 225's. When I get new chrome wheels I'll go 8" wide.
