what is the maximum permissable backspacing?

I have looked in Wheel fitment F.A.Q./Stock wheel F.A.Q./How to get wheels for your Cobalt. READ ME!!!
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/wheels-tires-96/wheel-fitment-f-q-stock-wheel-f-q-how-get-wheels-your-cobalt-read-me-8149/ and been unable to find the maximum permissable backspacing.

I'd also like to know what nominal clearance remains between the wheel rim and suspension components with this maximum permissable backspacing.

It seems to me that backspacing is important since it is a measurment from the surface of the mounting face and the innermost part of the wheel rim.

I would be interested to know these dimensions for the 5 lug disc front/disc rear type vehicle with the non-brembo brakes (g5 gt). I am interested in maximum backspacing for a vehicle with 18 inch wheels if the diameter of the wheel affects it.

thanks

bob

Bumping an old Topic, rather than create a new one.
