boost reference fuel pressure system question

I have the zzp brfps on my car and I had a question about it. I have it set up on option 2 which requires removing the stock fuel pressure regulator and pcm programming. My car has been stalling and after replacing the fuel filter, battery and alternator (which didn't fix the problem) I bought a fuel pressure tester. When I turn the key on but don't start it the fuel pressure jumps up to 50 psi and then drops back down to zero. Once I start the car it holds 42 psi which is what it is supposed to do but it doesn't stay running very long and when it dies the pressure gauge goes up to 50 psi again before dropping to 0 psi. I was just wondering if it is supposed to hold the pressure or not with the stock fuel pressure regulator removed. I put my fuel pressure tester on my other car and when I turn the key on the pressure goes up to like 60 psi and stays there until I start the car and then when I shut if off the pressure stays up. Thanks for your help in advance,
Jarrod

I fixed it. It ended up being a bad connection in the fuse box under the hood. I would still like to know if my fuel pressure should go to zero psi with the key on engine off though.
